Hody Celebration in Popůvky

Hody in Popůvky near Brno. Lots of food and music. These were called Babské hody, which means woman’s. Usually only married woman and their children wore kroj outfit and were part of Babské hody. There were accompanied by Sklepmistr men, who were making sure people had enough to drink. Sklepmistr would translate as a master of cellar. My cousin Radek is the main sklepmistr and his wife and two daughters, who are my Goddaughters are dancing and doing such a great job. :)

So precious. Would someone point to or give an instruction on how to exactly wear scarves on the head that ties in the back such as how they are worn by the older women in this video. Wondering if these are just longer scarves being worn and simply knotted in the back in the typical way small square western print handkerchiefs are sometimes worn in the USA... reminiscent of a pirate look. We have square dancing in the USA which looks like fun. My mother used to do it, sewing her own petticoats and dresses. It feels as if square dancing was first rooted in these types of dancing shown here. Same with the Hutsul people's type of dancing. There are many similarities. Thank you for sharing the video.

The way they are tied is actually pretty complicated. I once watched how they do it. It is very specific way and only some women knew how to do it. It is called Turkish headscarf. Takes long time to do. Hopefully one day I can make a video. :)
