Totally agree with you on the Cerakote! Glad to hear I’m not the only one lol! No high end stainless knife should come in black cerakote, this was my biggest gripe with the Bugout 535Bk-4 when they switched it from DLC to Cerakote. The wear resistance is not even in the same ballpark!

Eh, I’ve had a cerakoted magnacut deka for quite some time now and the cerakote has held up great, better than certain companies DLC *cough* spyderco *cough* And saying that it doesn’t provide any corrosion resistance is ludicrous, that is one of the major reasons cerakote is used in multiple industries. DLC as a whole is definitely the top of the pile but Cerakote is definitely a good coating. I agree on the steel choice, it’s odd that they chose 20cv over magnacut. Although I’m not 100% sure they were using magnacut yet when they released this version

Glad to see companies like Spyderco and ProTech still using DLC though, black Cerakote is just a another corner cut for maximizing profits. I get it for colored blades like the FDE/OD green bugout in M4, but Black M390 for $300 nah that’s just being cheap.

Coating is to make it less scary.

They have it listed incorrectly. Check other dealers. They all say cerakote. You can also tell the difference in person
