0:52 funny cause it actually technically did - the weimar government (and german revolution) was dominated by socialists and communists from spartacists to social democrats, which could've seen a unified german soviet republic (regional ones were installed, however). a problem was that they couldn't actually install a red state because the populace would've hated it. (along with the great powers lol) R russia(the rsfsr) supported these revolutions too. check out the wikipedia article on the 1918-1919 german revolution to gain a better understanding or double check that i'm not lying, if you want.
