I love my Hoka Mach X shoes. Favorite daily trainer currently

Deviate Nitro 2 is one of my most versatile shoes. I do intervals, tempo long runs in it and i ran my half PB and some fast non technical trail races in it because of the outsole. Also you can pick it up for under 120€ pretty much all the time.

Recently got the Deviate Nitro 2, for training and for a Hyrox event that I signed up for later in the year. Have ran in them twice now and they seem very promising! Especially for the price! They’re so breathable as well compared to my Nimbus 25, and the amount of grip is crazy

Love the Puma DN2 for my long runs. Enough cushion and more stable than the endorphin speed 3.

Little comment to the Puma: I am mostly a trailrunner, and for easy trails and rainy days, this is my go to shoe. Better then most explicit Trail-Shoes on that days. The outsole is amazing!! Quality equal to vibram.

I owned the first Deviate Nitro and enjoyed wearing them; although I did get a bit of a scratch on the left heel. But Deviate Nitro Elite 2 is totally different and I’m loving it so much. In comparison, I do like Mach X more than both the Puma’s shoes. I really like the thick cushioning under the forefoot and the upper is so comforting. I’m trying to get Rocket X 2 but for the time being Mach X is worth the money spent.

Good morning. Excellent comparison. Like to Meaghan and Thomas from 🇪🇸. My vote goes to the Puma deviate nitro2. A nice weekend for everyone.

I love the Puma DN2, but they are a bit snug and the toebox gets very hot after several miles. I love them for short runs.

Haven't tried the Mach X but I really like the DN2 for that "jack-of-all-trades" character it has. As mentioned by others, it's great for road-to-trail excursions with the Puma Grip outsole and can handle any type of run although it isn't outstanding at any either. Hoka road shoes just haven't worked out for me compared to Adidas, NB, Puma, Saucony, and ASICS. I really do like Hoka's Mafate Speed 4 for the trails and the Clifton 8 is my favorite walking shoe but others I just returned after trying them for a bit.

my size 9.5 Mach X weighs 9.1oz. Not bad. Definitely not a race day shoe, but cushy, bouncy and a fun shoe. I'm trying it as an everyday supertrainer to replace my much beloved Endorphin Speed 3. the Mach X is a lot "more" shoe. the Speed 3- more like a cushy bouncy slipper in comparison. Puma- yeah, nobody sells those around where I live.

Meaghan's description of a super trainer as a more durable race day shoe is why it blows my mind that Saucony chose not to use a real outsole on the Kinvara Pro. $180 for a non-race day shoe with no rubber (especially designed for heel strikers who are going to scuff) is wild
@snowwalker9999 Жыл бұрын
I think Saucony figured it would become too heavy with a rubber outsole. 100K reviews will give us a better idea what they were thinking.

PDN2 is my go to . My only complaint is that the forefoot gets too soft after a while (im on the heavyish side) . I think the normal Nitro found in the heel will work better for me if it was in the forefoot

Shoes can be so complicated on so many levels. I'm in my fifth year of running and my third year of having more than one shoe at a time, so I'm not an expert in any way, but I also log a decent number of miles (over 200 miles per month). As a teacher, value in the shoe rotation is really important. I don't own a Hoka shoe for that reason, as the consistent message from reviewers is that Hoka shoes just don't last very long. I do own the Puma DN2 and it is the very epitome of a do it all shoe for me. I'm at 250 miles and it looks brand new. I've done 22 mile easy runs in this shoe, and I've done intervals in it, and it's treated me well for all 250 miles. I've recommended it for friends who have only one or two pairs of shoes at any time and those friends have loved it. Plus, I never have an opinion on uppers, but the upper on the Puma DN2 fits my foot perfectly. Just a great all around shoe
@yianpap6093 Жыл бұрын
Indeed, nothing has ever fitted my foot as close to perfectly as the DN2. I never thought that an upper would be as important. I am tempted to buy something else after it (I am so at 400km and they do look new, just a little creasing on the foam) but even if another shoe is a little more stable, or has an overall better midsole, I do not want to sacrifice that perfect hugging of my foot, like ever again!

Deviate nitro 2 sells for 90 dollars ish here in sweden.. sales in many places. I like it, its pretty bouncy, pretty light. Comfortable fit. Not anything to complain about it. Plate is pretty flexible, grip is the best in wet conditions. Btw.. nitro elite is a nitrogen infused peba. The normal nitro is nitrogen infused tpu i think.

Puma all day long. Very versatile. Just by checking sole of hoka I can see that it will slip on trails while Puma you can take on asphalt and trails. No issues.

I’m a slow marathoner and so I ran my last marathon in the Mach 5 and my feet and legs were happy for the almost 5 hrs on my feet. Could either of these be an improvement on the Mach 5 for such a long effort when I don’t want me shoes to feel like bricks at mile 20 or 25? Thanks PS. Which has the roomier toe box?
@Hoodedvids Жыл бұрын
Would these super trainers work as a slow person race day shoe? I have a bunch of half marathons this fall and want something quicker than my Saucony Tempus but don’t need to go full Endorphin Elite for my 9 min/mile pace :) Also stability is a concern too.
@Believeintherun Жыл бұрын
Yes, these would work, both are relatively stable.

Thank you for great clips… However… No discussion of relative stack heights or of the drop? Are those things not important to you? Doesn’t it matter if one is a heel or mid foot striker? Just respectfully observing what I think are important omissions. Keep up the good work.
@Believeintherun Жыл бұрын
Drop, unless it gets in the way, really doesn’t matter to us. We run in so many shoes and only have an issue if the geometry interferes with the gait.

Puma Deviate Nitro 2 is a dreadful longrunshoe. It bottoms out very early and the outsole is to hard. It makes it a very unforgiving ride at steady or maraton pace at longruns.
