Thank you, Dani, for your reaction to Hold You In My Heart, sung by Elvis. Elvis' voice did sound amazing, and the song did sound like it was written for him.

Excellent reaction: the freedom in his singing, as he always keeps it interesting. "Awesome range in his vocals" for sure.

From Elvis in Memphis is a superb album. This is the only known version of this song as Elvis didn't do any alternate takes nor sang it live.He was recording many of his most well known hits at the American sound studios in January and February 69 when Roy Hamilton walked in on January the 22nd.Elvis was keen to impress so he burst into Hold you in my heart. There's a small piece of amateur footage of Elvis and Roy on that day in the studio on YT...Elvis album was released on June 17th 1969 just a month before Roy died. Roys son Roy Hamilton Jr. revealed that Elvis sent Roy's wife, Myrna, a rose every day Roy was in the hospital. When Roy passed away from complications of a stroke, Elvis sent Myrna flowers for the following six months.

This was a country song from the 60s. I don't remember the first country singer I. Heard. But. Elvis did it for his country album. This time he is putting that extra Elvis touch to it live

Hey Dani, you want to hear a version that you never heard before? Listen to Elvis's rendition of Amazing Grace. Even says on the album that it was arranged by Elvis. I would love to hear it. Thank you very much. I pray that you're being blessed.

To be fair, none could wrap their understanding around the idea that 45 years after their death, they would STILL be the King. When he died in '77, I knew my generation would never forget him and I figured that professional singers/entertainers would always study his chops. But I'd not have believed that in 2022, yet another generation would go nuts for him. I'm hopeful that, like this young lady, his new fans will take a deep dive into his catalog. Some of my favorites are obscure (for Elvis, I mean!), and/ or out takes. I also hope that if it's movies that they want, they will watch That's The Way It Is or (my favorite) Elvis On Tour.

Dani, This is a cover version of this song and I checked Elvis Presley did this cover song in 1969. The original song was sung by Eddy Arnold in 1947 that was when he wrote and recorded the song. So Elvis's version is a good cover version and you can watch a KZbin video of Eddy Arnold that features the original 1947 song and it's good but I prefer Elvis's cover song a little better.

Eddy Arnold was one of Country's biggest stars at the time, and his manager was Tom Parker. Parker probably thought no one could ever be more famous than Eddy Arnold!

My personal fav from the album is Any day now but I prefer some of the alternate takes as you hear Elvis's voice clearer and no backing singers either. It's stripped down just as it was at the time no over dubs.

At 4:30, was that really a high B flat above Middle C? That's way up high for a baritone. And he is singing in a raspy voice as well.
