This week in the shed I show you some simple tips that may help you in the future, when it comes to prep work, leaving the tiniest specs of paint on the edges can effectively wreak a good join. I’ll show you how a weld can be used as a tool , well other then joining metal to metal .

Yes it’s definitely a hard line to keep , I haven’t seen to many undamaged ones other then fresh replacements 🤙🏻

nothing wrong with what your doing....great tip about the tacks bringing down that centre bit.watching you rub your gloved hand over the weld reminded me of mum running her hand over where i hurt myself when i was young. enjoy your simple approach well done joe

You’ve definitely shown me that a real car is a steel car you’re definitely very talented with a hammer and dolly and a mig welder one ☝️ question y not use tig ? First time I’ve ever seen anyone use a leather glove as a way of cooling a weld down.. in all my years a panel beater I’ve never worn gloves anyway top work love it

I appreciate that comment, cheers mate. it’s like all people with preferences, not necessarily the right way , I like to cool it down to reduce the warping but just enough it stays warm in its cold position. leather gloves hold some heat but drop it over a fresh tac and you can feel the sheet shrink back flat , that’s if it crowns .. blink and you’ll miss it 🤙🏻 cheers @michaelbyrnes7944

Nice one. Im a halfarsed welder and fing struggle with shrink welding up rust cuts. Meh,body filler... But good tip.

Interesting i've never seen a quarter panel in halfs! Did the part come that way or you can't buy the whole quarter?

hey mate nope this panel was from another vehicle, I trimmed up for this video, the original panel was a full side panel but I really wanted to keep as much of it as original as could. so a lengthy half was the way .
