Oh and about that concern in the beginning. The Flashpoint Paradox marked a reboot in dc comics so the movie ends in a new timeline to the viewers and War is the new intro to the team. When Barry lets his mom die at the end to fix time, the present isn’t fully how he left it (think how you chip a teacup and you can put the chip back but the crack is still there, the cup isn’t the exact same as before). Don’t want to be that guy lol but this might help clarify some things: by this time, all the heroes are brand new, and haven’t been active for more than a year. So Clark just became Superman and he’s in his early twenties , hence the immaturity and increased aggression. They wanted to show how he became the Superman we know and love. The same goes for the rest of the heroes hence the slightly different characterizations. by the end they all don’t seem like a team because they aren’t, they all still just met each other and aren’t friends yet. With this run, they decided to play the long game with character arcs but unfortunately, a lot of the fans weren’t happy with it,( Superman not being a Boy Scout at first) I personally loved it because it showed that characters have their flaws and they did not start off as these Godlike figures, they become them. Love the videos, enjoy the ride!

In many of the continuities the Joker is created when Batman accidentally knocks a man named Jack Napier (The original Red Hood) into a vat of acid when their heist escape took them on a detour through Ace Chemicals. The only time in film or animation history where the Joker existed before the death of Bruce's parents was in the Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix. The greatest explanation about the flash fixing the timeliness is from the flash show. Even though flash went back and fixed time things aren't exactly the same. If you chip a cup that's going back in time and when you want to fix what you changed you put the piece back but a Crack will remain meaning the changes to the timeline.
@DocuzanQuitomos7 ай бұрын
"It doesn't feel exactly like a team..." That was the general idea of the New 52 (among other changes). The reboot (both in comics, and that translated to film) tried to make the superheroes we know more interesting by making them "less perfect" and experienced. In this new continuity, the first superheroes came public to the world kind of recently (instead of being a familiar presence for more decades), that's why some are pretty reckless and careless in several things. If you can, eventually, check the other animated films about Batman and the Justice League; they are nice adaptations of comic storylines (just like these) and also provide some elements to understand other character that (since then) haven't got stand alone films (like Wonder Woman or Green Lantern, the second animated Green Lantern movie shows in good detail the extent of the Green Lantern Corps); while they belong to other continuities pre-Flashpoint, the general ideas of what those characters are and how they fit into the DC canon were not rebooted (and they are still a quick reference to several events that happen in more modern versions). Still, you are in for a ride just with this continuity. Nice reaction and see you in the next one.

As far as how it fits i to the last movie, this acts as the introduction of the new timeline where all the characters first meet and at some point the new timeline barry will have his memory of the original timeline restored and give Bruce the note at the end of flashpoint.
@localhobo53627 ай бұрын
You know the fun part? That moment with the letter at the end of Flashpoint happens in the future relative to this movie. In the comics, the war arc takes place five years before the point where Flash returned. Shortly after his return, Flash's memories start to "adapt" to the new timeline, causing him to forget everything about the previous timeline and Flashpoint. So, it's actually the reverse of what you said. He won't regain his memories. When he stopped himself from saving his mother, the changes echoed both into the future and the past, essentially creating a new timeline. It wouldn't make sense if the events in this new timeline only started happening after Barry returned. I hope Iit makes sense, because it's very confusing part.

It's a great watch that is sadly overlooked by newcomers. The animation is stunning, characterisation on point, has a great story and most surprisingly good music. It was made during a time when Warner Bros had bigger budgets for their animated movies and it definitely shows. The biggest selling point of the movie to me however is that it actually felt like a cinematic movie, not some extended episode like the newer ones tend to be. It had a gripping cold open, good buildup, fantastic climax and a satisfying ending. Just throwing it out there in case you ever wanna check out any animated movies with a different flavour seeing that it was made in 2010, before the MCU set the bar for superhero movies and everyone else wanted to copy them by making everything a shared universe.

In terms of consistency, this is the true beginning of the animated New 52 movies. So this is the heroes at their youngest technically. And the versions of the characters introduced in this are all the same moving forward.

This series of movies is inspired by the New 52 Era of DC. After these movies is the TomorrowVerse.

I'm hopping they are also reacting to The Dark Knight Retruns in the Future. It is one of my favorites.

I just wanna note that Superman isn’t only just the strongest in the DC universe. He’s also the kindest. Superman has this misconception of being overrated and overpowered but he’s a really great character that’s necessary in a world full of homelander and omnimans

Green lanterns are basically space cops It's referred to as the DCAOU (Animated Original Universe). Me personally, I call it Animated new 52 universe Wonder woman was acting the way she was because at that time, she had only been in the modern world for a few days and was seeing most things for the first time

I think they purposefully made all the characters rough around the edges to give them room for growth.

Love the scene where Wonder Woman lays a brief smackdown on Shazam, and tells him to basically "Grow up!" lol Yeah, WW in this movie was laid out a little bit... "dorkly" (not sure that's a word). But her character does improve toward the end. And I have always been a fan of the romantic-sparks that fly between her and Superman. I've kinda always wanted the two of those characters to get together, for as long as I've been a DC fan.

Yeah I wasn't crazy about how Superman was treated at first. But you learn that he was fresh as being Superman. Don't worry they all get better.

On Superman and how he acts: in the new 52 timeline Clark’s parents died in an accident when he was I think 15-16 years old. So with dad and mom out of his life then teachings is mildly altered. He still uses his powers for good o help ppl, but he is more cocky about it.

If the context is helpful at all, the DCAMU movies are based on the reboot DC did for their comics in 2011 called the New 52. Attempting to give a fresh take on the characters, DC gave the characters slight personality and design changes.

Superman does seem a bit like Batman here: Very serious, closed off, brooding and violent against competition rather than trying to be friends first

Green Lantern Emerald Knights or Green Lantern First Flight should be next on the list just so Jen can get a little more familiar with Green Lanterns.
