Ditched my Harley Dina Superglide and bought this bike. Will be here in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

Thank god we do not suffer with those huge license tags over here in the states. I'd hate to have that thing hanging off the back of my bike. The Triumph is a beauty !!! :) They make some sweet bikes for sure!
@holdyourfire4 жыл бұрын
Yes they are grim to look at, there is ways around it and you can 'legally' make them smaller to a point or move them to a different position

Loved the review thanks. Yes getting the screen right on a speedmaster seems to be central to happy ownership. Some say that fitting lowers to the forks helps. Cheers

Your review was spot on. I saw one on dealer on bought it (some might call it impulsive..). Later did some research. One can find lot of reviews concluding as this one: It is a flawless, superb machine. And it is. I've had my share of great bikes, Ducatis, Hondas etc. Ridden Harleys and so forth. But this one just makes me smile. The engine and gears are just perfect. It turns, it accelrates, and eventually, it stops. But after all it's not a sports bike. 300km's a day, no problem. Unfortunatelly have not had time to take longer trips. It is, how did you say.. comfortable. Just make sure the screen is set at the angle (3 options) best for you.
@petergrant13484 жыл бұрын
Hey Tero, do you have a screen on yours? Do you get any buffering? I have one on m thunderbird storm and I found it UNRIDABLE without a set of lower wind deflectors due to the buffering I received. How did you find it in this situation, please?
@TeroPasanen4 жыл бұрын
@@petergrant1348 Yes, the buffeting is quite bad, the wind noise is very high. Tried with a different screen (lower) which was much worse, that really made it unrideable. Now I've the screen off altogther. Just that the wind now is bit of a wrestle. But the wind noise is gone.

Thank you so much for your review of this bike. I have a thunderbird storm and I find it getting a bit heavy for my age now-I'm 63. THIS looks like the answer for me. I am however, interested in the buffering from the screen, even though you pointed out it is a bit flimsy. I have one on the storm and I found it UNRIDABLE without a set of lower wind deflectors due to the buffering I received. How did you find it in this situation, please?

I bought a Triumph Bonneville T100 Black just before Christmas and I love it. It consumes 3.5 ltrs per 100 Klm.

Another beauty from Triumph, other than the mirrors. I'd love to see it with bar-end mirrors but not sure how they'd work on those beach bars. Also, I wish it had the twin gauges like the T120. No reason other than style. I just think the twin dials look sharp.

Smashing review ....Nice to see this with the highway pack, around £13k (ex VAT) for this bike with the H pack , shame about the screen & the tank size on this bike as you mentioned. Overall I love it.

Great bike but too small a tank 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 Don’t know what Triumph were thinking when they put that stupid small tank on there!! 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ I would buy one if it had the same tank size as my America 👍 Great enthusiastic video Sam thanks for sharing mate 👍

Cool looking bike and colour too. Very impressed. i have noticed lately that there is a current obsession with Matt Black !? I can't understand it. Is it true the current rocket lll model is only available in Matt Black ? Why? ..imo the older coloured models are much better looking. Maybe I'm just out of step with fashion.

Great review thank you. A bit of advice if I may?.. I've been riding a Honda PCX 125 on L plates for about 7 years.. (And driving cars for 25 years). I'm finally getting myself sorted and hope to be taking my bike test soon.. Would this be too big a jump for a first bike? I really love the look of it, I'm not into fast speeds, and I'm looking for a more laid back 'easy rider' style.. Obviously I'm not used to such a powerful machine. Also it will be my commuter bike 52 weeks a year, (I ride every day unless there's snow / ice) suitable for that too would you say?
@holdyourfire6 жыл бұрын
Simon Plumb it's a yes and no answer, when I pass my test I jumped from a 125 to a 865 and yes I noticed the change in power but it felt safe and confidant in the change, if you feel like to can be happy with that, the go test ride one once you pass your test, to make sure you would be happy with the power chance and the ride of the bike it's self, all in all the only way you will know is if you get your bum on that seat, you will know instantly if it's right for you

@vinjofin19726 жыл бұрын
The bike is stunning I Admit. The windscreen only comes on when I do a long trip. And that is its achilles heel. The gasoline tank of 12 liter is way to small. Every 200 km I need to refill. Thats no joy. Other then that I love the Triumph and the brand Triumph in particular. And I am not British😁. Good review. Thank you!

From the video, the stock exhaust sounds great, unlike my 2008 Triumph Bonneville T100, which was so muffled it sounded like a sewing machine. I take it this Speedmaster engine isn't jerky at low rpm coming out of first and second gear, like my T100 was because it ran so lean.

''the screen is detachable and can come off..'' hilarious
@niallwildwoode73734 жыл бұрын
Everything seems to make this well worth having, bar the screen. TBH, a bigger tank would be useful, so if Triumph had any marketing intelligence, they'd offer a 16l+ option, 20l at best. I'd trim the mudguards shorter a tad and have the solo quilted rider's pad. No pillions on MY bikes!
@bigred84385 жыл бұрын
Strange that a loan bike for journos would have things that aren't stock, such as the screen saddle bags and back rest. I heard another bloke talk about these accessories and imaginec the saddle bags being mounted about another 10" further back than they are on this one. If I owned one, I would set it up for a solo ride, the addition of the pillion seat and back rezt and the placement of the saddlebags make it look daft.

Ive had the misfortune of driving Hastings to Cornwall...in a little ford... With no sat nav...after flying from very quiet countryside West Australia, Andy a week on a dairy farm bnb in Holland...we drove in grey rain through a country on the edge of Brecit and a London terror attack and after decades of thatcherism ...through the narrow streets we headed west to Celtic Paradise through the English cluster fuck of the southern road network, intersected by massive roundabouts full of millions of cars heading to London. Weed being illegal i could not chill out. Totally terrible. Couldnt get our dutch sim card to work so we could have some Streetview navigation, i pulled into some garage squeezed into rows of terraced houses and bought one of his last paper maps. Taking salient points from that i entered the fray and had no relief until way past Portsmouth and entered some elevated landscape where the hordes of hatchbacks thinned out. Seeing you cruise in the mid sized Trumpy unfazed just adfs to my admiration. Of how you cope with such crowding and get to see the places of interest still not covered in flats or car parks.

Yes looks fantastic. I have yet to see one in the flesh, the lone Triumph dealer in South Australia sells each one it gets its hands on in 5 minutes! From all the reviews I’ve viewed so far, the low pegs and wide handlebars limit its cornering ability and agility in turns. Did you find this? May have to go to Sydney to test ride one, let alone buy one! Thanks for a down to earth review. BTW your test bike had the Highway option which had screen, plusher seats, backrest, crashbars as optional $2600 Australian. I like the note! No need for Vance and Hines! Cheers and thanks.

What about your tank on this bike?
@raymorris9526 жыл бұрын
Apparently it has a bigger tank than the Bobber, I don't think it should be called the speedmaster, it's more like the American. And it kinda makes the Thunderbird cruiser obserleate, speedmaster should be a sporty cruiser like yours, 900 engine , cruiser version of the street Twin,? It's bloody pricey too.
@holdyourfire6 жыл бұрын
I think you are right about the tank size though I haven't checked That model I was riding with the few extras it has was a few bob, (13,00 ish)
@TheVoosters6 жыл бұрын
The Thunderbird is a much bigger machine - with more torque at lower revs, ideal for 2 people & luggage. This bike could not do what the Thunderbird does.

I agree, fuel tank is too small. I just recently bought a Triumph America (with 485 miles) rather than the Speedmaster. I want 200 miles per tank...necessary for some of the long, lonely roads I ride in the western US. Speedmaster sure is a beautiful bike though.

It is not. In fact, the triple clamp has to be removed to mount that screen, because it mounts to each fork, so it's pretty darn permanent. You could unscrew the screen itself and be left with the silver bracket, but that would be ugly.

That is an awesome looking bike - sound too! May i ask how tall you are? I am 1.87cm, so i am a bit afraid the bike may be to small for me...
@holdyourfire6 жыл бұрын
i am roughy about 5.5/5.6 feet i think, the seat is quite high compared to the later versions, so it makes you feel a lot bigger in the bike than you are, but the whole time i was riding the bike i felt on top of the bike if that makes sense, but i highly recommend going to your local triumph dealership and have a sit on one and try and see if they will let you take it out, its bloody worth it !!!!
