Hello! Thanks for the cool, wonderful lessons! Please tell me which traditional films do you watch at Christmas
@highlevellistening Жыл бұрын
Ooo good question! This year in the UK on BBC One and BBC Two there are some classic Christmas films like White Christmas (1954) and Chariots of Fire (1981), but in previous years they have also shown The Great Escape (some of them are not related to Christmas at all!). Some 'modern classics' now are Love Actually, Elf and the Harry Potter films. They also show a lot of kid-friendly films on TV, this year for example there was Toy Story 4 (2019), Cinderella (2015) and The Gruffalo. There are also some comedy shows that create a special Christmas episode. This Christmas we have also watched Home Alone 1 - 2, Chicken Run, Die Hard, Wallace and Gromit, Love Actually, Mean Girls and a few more! So you have lots of choice for when you 'veg out' on the sofa during the Christmas period. :)

Merry Christmas and thank you so much for sharing even today! In Spain, Christmas Eve is a special day too and families gathered to prepare dinner and we sing carols, have a drink and eat a little of turrón a while before dinner. We stuff ourselves too with lots of food for dinner: castilian soup or seafood soup, iberian ham, roast lamb, prawns, escarole salad, and so on. We usually play board games after dinner or wath musical special programs on TV. Some people dance a little on the living room...

That sounds like a wonderful way to spend some quality family time together! Thank you so much for sharing, the Spanish Christmas Eve sounds fun and delicious ☺️☺️🎄🎄

Speaking of celebrating christmas, Every people has theirn own style of clelebration. for kate,Christmas Eve is full of excitement, it's the day bofore tge actual Christmas day.hanging up the stocking by the bonefire is filled with candy and other items ,gifts. all the family members 's name stewed in it. In the Uk,25th is the main event of christmas, it's all about family and foods and enjoying each other company. they usually kick out the day with present, everyone is tearing the wrapped present box with full of excitement.

Thank you I felt as if it was a nice story Do elder people present presents 🎁 Kat, do your parents fill the stocking stuff, or you and your family member put prizes into other stockings? 🎉❤
@highlevellistening2 ай бұрын
Hello! Thanks for your question. Usually the parents (a.k.a "Santa Claus" 🤫) fill the stocking while the kids are sleeping. When they wake up, their stockings are full and it's usually the first presents they grab!

It's again Patrizia from North Italy Turin. In Italy we eat on Christmas Eve as well as on Christmas Day the 25th December. On The 24th we are accustomed to fry everything basically fish and vegetables. On the 25th we eat several appetizers then a delicious dish of Italian pasta such as lasagne, agnolotti, tortellini and so on, afterwards we have meat and potatoes rather than vegetables. We end up with slices of panettone and/or Pandoro or some other regional sweets. We are used to hang up stocking in the Eve of the 6th of January recalling the 3 Magic Kings arrival at Jesus' shelter. We fill up the stockings with chocolates and candies sometimes with some gift and sweet coal and put over the Fire Place. If I made mistakes in my English please let me know. Best greetings and Happy New Year listening to you all 2024.

Hi Patrizia! Thanks so much for sharing your experience for Christmas Eve and Christmas day! We also shared some panettone with friends this Christmas and it was delicious! Since you asked for some corrections here are a couple: we are accustomed to fry*ing (accustomed to doing something) we are used to hang*ing up (used to doing something) we end up with: this is a funny phrase: "end up with something" means it wasn't something you expected. "We wanted to go to a movie, but we ended up staying at home" You might like this phrase instead: "We finish off the evening with.... We finished up the dinner with...." finished off or finished up would mean we fully completed the dinner/totally completed the evening Thanks for all of your hard work and thanks for watching our videos! See you soon for our next one!

Merry Christmas guys ❤ Wishing you a season full of light and laughter for you and your family. Best wishes for a joyous Christmas filled with love, happiness and prosperity! Now here comes my question; Can I swap the expression " veg on the sofa "with the expression " plop on the couch " thanks in advance 👍 😊 Kat and Mark
@highlevellistening Жыл бұрын
Have a wonderful holiday thank you so much for watching and thanks for your question! Think of “veg out” or “veg on the sofa” as doing nothing and laying on the sofa And “plop on the couch” as the movement and the way you sit yourself down on the couch “So I’m just gonna plop myself down and veg the rest of the evening :)” Happy vegging 😂
