Hollow Knight Vinyl, Plushies, Enamel Pins, and more are available for purchase through the Fangamer website! www.fangamer.com/collections/hollow-knight *DISCLAIMER:* Music in this video is not an accurate representation of the Hollow Knight Vinyl available for purchase. I love playing these discs through large speakers, but I do not recommend listening to your record player through headphones. For the highest quality OST, I suggest purchasing a digital album through Christopher Larkin's Bandcamp (link in the description). For clarification, the music in this video is from a digital album, and has been sped up to match how it would sound at 45rpm. But don't worry, the OST on vinyl sounds amazing when listened through large speakers! Also, I'm not sponsored by Fangamer, though my business email is open if that's of future interest.

I think a lot of the songs here don’t work as well for a game anymore, since they get a little busy, but this is a fascinating look into how changing a piece can drastically affect how it is perceived. I’m currently in school for composing and I could see my teacher using something like this to explain how little changes like this can get you out of compositional ruts, and help inspire new ideas, or affirm the ones you already had.

crystal peak is genuinely awesome. i never really noticed the music before, but this switches up the vibe COMPLETELY. it’s unsettling, you could easily mistake it for a track from a horror game, but when the… bass? i think? kicks in, it gets this sort of “vigilante battle against an unstoppable darkness” vibe to it. wait… that’s just the game. speeding up hollow knight music turns it into hollow knight music.

@TheAdvertisement Жыл бұрын
Enter Hallownest - Honeslty, if I'd never have heard this song before I would've though this was the natural tempo, and just a bit short. It has this feeling of welcoming a great mysterious hero who's about to bring justice! Dirtmouth - Sounds like the town's in quiet crisis. Crossroads - It has this feeling of journeying through a wasteland desert, and when the combat part comes in it's like a sandstorm is coming through. Meanwhile the shaman section has a more ancient feeling to it, like you've made it to the ancient tomb you were looking for. False Knight - Wow does this song sound so much more intense, like it's a final battle in a crumbling cavern. The time signature changes are a lot more noticeable too! Greenpath - I'm imaging a bunch of forest sprites working in unison flying around, and when it gets to combat part they start making the viewer fly through the forest with them Peter Pan style. Hornet - At this speed some of the strings really do have this bee-like feeling to them. I'm imagining being a bee in a hive while it's under attack, flying around the chaos. Reflections - Song doesn't feel like it's changed that, just a bit more lively, maybe like you're with your friends at some base camp instead of just reflecting alone. Mantis Lords - I feel like I just got beat down by a group of the fastest Russian dancers in the world. City of Tears - Man I feel like I'm traveling through the bustling city while it was still in its glory days. Dung Defender - Definitely still has that knightly feeling to it, maybe like you're in a jousting tournament, or setting off on horseback on an adventure! Crystal Peak - Before the combat it has this feeling of sneaking through this ancient Japanese temple, and when the bass comes it for the combat it feels like you've been caught and challenged by a Samurai. Fungal Wastes - Again a more Japanese feeling, but this time like you're wandering through a village. Decisive Battle - Feels like you just got pulled into hand-to-hand combat with a deadly foe. The staccato feeling the the music and heavy emphasis done with the percussion really emphasizes the feeling of trading blows. Soul Sanctum - This one is the best by far. I love the growing tension the speed of the organ keeps adding, like you're rushing through a church to stop something terrible. Also the Hollow Knight motif is a lot easier to hear. And then when you get to the Soul Master part... chills man. Sounds straight out of a movie trailer! Resting Grounds - Sounds like a really hauntingly sad waltz. Queen's Garden - Again sounds almost like something for a festival, but a little more laid back. The White Lady - Sounds like a musical motif that would follow a lonely traveling musician with just his lute. Broken Vessel - First off the build up sounds super menacing, like deep guitar chords striking to signify a terrifying foe is approaching. The general feel of the them has an almost western cowboy style to it, like you're being chased through the desert by bandits. Kingdom's Edge - Sounds like something that would play during the death scene of a beloved king or queen, or parts of it sound like going through a mysterious magical forest. Nosk - The creepy dissonant way parts of this song make it all that more confusing sped it up, really makes it seem like creatures are crawling out of the walls at you and you're desperately trying to get away. Dream - The sped up chorus really makes it feel like you're walking the line between life and death, traveling on an empty plain. Dream Battle - Goddamn the percussion goes off in this, feels straight out of a tense action movie scene, like you're trying to disable a bomb! White Palace - Sounds like the aftermath of an emotional battle climax, like the protagonist was trying to convince his evil father to see the light as they fight, and now his father is thinking over his son's words. Sealed Vessel - Love the color change on the drop, that slowly desaturates during the sacrifice section. This song was always on the slower side in the main melody, so hearing it still sound as a decently slower speed comparing to the raging violins really gives this feeling you're facing this Goliath while it destroys everything around you. Then during the self-sacrifice section, ignoring the slightly goofy vibrato on the violins and chorus, it sounds like someone is standing in the way of the Goliath, sacrificing themself to save you. You're forced to run and not look back as it destroys the world around you, and your protector is crushed in the chaos. Even the ending sections fit really well. Radiance - Oh God the chorus sounds even goofier here. xD Honestly it sounds like a pretty dramatic villain that's showboating, effortlessly tearing through heroes and laughing about it. Hollow Knight - And of course the menu theme to end things. It's mood hasn't really changed, still feels like a lone hero taking a moment of respite in a desolate world.

@@snidlin how would you feel if you were chilling on your balcony above the city and then suddenly some small runt with a toothpick started smacking you around

@@tagiasm4148 Honestly I'd just be confused. And then I'd run for the gun safe. If I didn't have time, then I'd grab the antique battle ready longsword in my room and return blows. Either that or I'd scream in panic. I'd prefer the former of course.

im not actually sure, but i think this classifies as nightcore.

It doesn't distort the frequencies that much, I guess this is just a sped up

The Radiance OST sounds much less menacing when there is a chorus of chimpmunks singing.

I am very late but a correction: It is 38% faster, meaning 138% speed, but not 138% faster.

Hollow Knight is my favorite JRPG

This was cool to listen to! Some of my favorites were Dream Battle and Decisive Battle. They sounded like something from a chase sequence when sped up. I also liked Radiance, the main theme, Dung Defender, ok I like them all :)

Nosk somehow sounds more suited for flying nosk if it was faster

Fungal Wastes still sounds epic per usual. On my first playthrough I got super lost in there... hehe I got super lost everywhere. My favorites have to be Enter Hollownest, Fungal Wastes, Soul Sanctum... (I'm too lazy to type it all now, I'll do it later)
