I love the original horror films! Lon Chaney films are some of the best. They don't all deal with a "monster" but they deal with human nature which can be utterly horrifying. Bela Lugosi was credited as the star of Ed Wood's "Plan 9 from Outer Space," even though Bela died before the movie was ever made. His scenes, encompassing approximately 5 total minutes of film, were shot by Wood in 1956 to send to movie and TV casting directors to let them know that Bela was alive and looking for work. Unfortunately, Bela died a few months after the footage was shot. So Wood edited the scenes into "Plan 9," and reused one scene multiple times during the movie. Wood used his chiropractor as Bela's stand-in for the movie, even though Bela was about 5'10" and his chiropractor stood about 6'4". Ed figured that no one would know the difference if the doctor held his cape in front of his face. Ummm...yeah,sure. Bela was 6 inches shorter than the chiropractor! How could you NOT notice the difference?

The Bates Motel set and the house on the hill are part of the Universal Studios tram tour. The last time I did the tour an employee at the Studios dressed up as Norman Bates and approached the tram, with the same soulless look that Tony Perkins was able to do. Many people swore that the original film had segments done in color, as some swore they saw the color of blood. A host of one of the Studio Stage Shows mentioned that many people opted for sponge baths, after they saw the shower scene. Years later Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh were at a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock. Anthony said he was not even on the set the day the shower scene was shot. He also pointed out that Janet Leigh was quite alive and well. Janet Leigh died in 2004, 24 years after Alfred Hitchcock and 10 years after Anthony Perkins.

Jackie Coogan and Ted Cassidy, one time, were on a flight to Los Angeles, in the 1960s. My parents recognized them, but did not make a scene. At the time I was a toddler. After the plane landed, my mom was busy getting ready to carry me down the jet stairs. My father was busy with my two sisters. So Ted Cassidy offered to help, and he carried the younger of my two sisters down the stairs. My sister loved sharing that story. We cried when we heard that Ted died, in 1979. Also, Jackie Coogan, as a child actor, made quite a fortune with his roles. But he learned that his mother and stepfather squandered his earnings. "The Coogan Law" was named after him; so that child actors, including Jackie's grandson Keith, have 15% of their income placed in trust before they reach age 18 or 21.

I think you should've added Claude Rains to this list. He's buried in New Hampshire. I don't remember exactly where. But, I know him as Dr. Jack Griffin in Universal Studios 1933's The Invisible Man.

I wonder why there re so many unmarked graves, especially of those who were on the silver screen?
@DontFartOnMyPillow6195 жыл бұрын
I think families were afraid of bad people possibly tampering with their gravesite or maybe they just wanted simple privacy for them. Interesting all around though.

Perhaps people kept stealing the name plates that's the only reason I think they'd not have them.

@@lorriharrington2055 That's exactly why! There used to be a lovely brass plaque in memory of Lon Chaney Senior on the outer wall of a film studio but it was stolen.

I appreciate your talent for making great quality videos. Waiting for the next one! May I suggest Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village, which includes Karen Carpenter, Harry Nilsson, Ron Goldman, Marty Paich, Virginia Mayo and her husband Michael O'Shea, Hanna-Barbera composer Hoyt Curtin, and Cesare Danova. It's off the Ventura Freeway and Lindero Canyon Road.

Just goes to show..in the graveyard, we are all "created equal".

Really? After watching luxurious LA cemeteries with magnificent works of art on every corner, fountains, stained windows and manicured lawns, this is your conclusion Chris? The only way you are equal to those people is that you will die and they have also died. Unless you have a lot of moolah and also plan to be buried alongside them.
