Mongolian guttural music singer Guttural singing, or also known as diphonic singing, is believed to be over 4000 years old and will have its origin in the area surrounding the present-day Republic of Tuva and southwestern Mongolia, this type of singing allows the human voice to perform up to three types of independent sounds, resulting from a refined technique that mixes various mechanisms of movement of the abdomen, throat, nasal cavity, lips and tongue.

So here’s a crazy fact- they sound BETTER live. Saw them in Boston last year and both my son and I left in awe. Worked concert security for 2 years and saw a lot of great shows... they bested them all. Metallica, Elton John, and Iron Maiden shift down to honorable mention status now (although when I get to see Nightwish my guess is this changes again). All 4 lead men can Mongolian throat sing and each has a different tone. 2 drummers, who they rarely show, also fill the band with the percussion drummer and their main lead singer (not the bigger hosehead fiddle player who drives this song) playing multiple instruments including another unique cultural instrument; the mouth harp. Hitler killed, just in his own lands now, about 11 million (5 million or so holocaust victims and 6 million or so of JUST German troops). That puts you at 41 or 51 million. Khan is estimated to have killed about 40 million people or so with his conquering. None of them hold a candle to Mao though. Also I don't know where you got that I idolize him. Fun fact : The Hu opened for Babymetal on Babymetal's US tour. There's a picture of them together if you Google it. It makes me happy seeing these badass mongolian dudes hanging out with Babymetal on tour. Globalization has its downsides, but different cultures coming together through music like this is definitely not one of them!

The pics of the girls and Slipknot are pretty cool too. Quite the juxtaposition. I'd like to see them with GWAR (in a pic...I don't think I could handle a show!)...both the bands enjoy performing for kids. I know GWAR has a child friendly show (props to them for figuring out how to pull that off).

This is the HU they are the coolest awesomest band on the planet check out all of their songs and videos they are all awesome and they keep getting better with time. Mongolian throat singing at its finest. If you ever have a chance to see them live take it. They are a Motorcycle Club not a gang that is called a Morin Khurr and in some somgs he makes it neigh like a horse and the guitar like instrument is called a tovshuur if you turn on the captions you get the lyrics in English on some songs.

It is Mongolian throat singing. It originated from the Mongolian people. Said it sounds like a dijeridoo, I shouted THANKYOU! That is exactly how I've been describing it. They wrote and performed a song for a star wars game. They have a CD and it is badass, but I wish it was a dvd because their videos are epic. Check their song honoring women. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED but you might cry.

Turn on cc, it is subtitled in eng. They ARE saying hu (who), it is short for huunan meaning human. They have 5 more official videos, 3 of which are collaborations. Throat singing/overtone. No electronics. Instrument is morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), 2 strings made of horsehair, as is the bow.

This is definitely based on an old Mongolian war chant. You missed out on the awesome lyrics by not have the subtitles on. Basically, the say, if you come looking for trouble, they will start by striking you like thunder, and conclude by handing you the wrath of heaven. That is some serious trash talk.

Asiatic tribes like the Mongols and Native Americans have similar features is because the land bridge connected north America and Asia for thousands of years. Intermingling of the races/cultures. If you listen to most tribal music (Norse, Asian, Polynesian, Native American, they all have a similar tone/style. Peyton Parish "My Mother Told ME" is one you should check out
