I'm not dead; you don't get to visit my grave (yet). But, in addition to a giant Reese's and a new hat, I also got the flu for Christmas... guess I was a little naughty last year. It knocked me out for two weeks. So, that's the reason for the delay, and why my voice may sound a little off.

I give Arthur Dark a standing ovation for his dedication to producing an exquisite video despite being ill. Arthur continues to produce like a professional with the indispensable knack of being able to compress the subject's story into a memorable few sentences. We are immeasurably the richer for his sharing his talents with the world. Get well soon, Arthur.

Harolyn Allison I agree...i watched one yesterday where the gentleman talked about how Truman Capote is buried with Johnny Carson's wife (which he had been) but it seemed lack luster at best and to frank rather borning and not as informative as these videos Kiddos to your videos...some of my favorites (ive watched some 2-4 times)

Excellent video with great info. It did cause me great personal sadness to see Steppin' Fetchit's grave has no marker. While as an African American, I know his films are dated and controversial, he was nonetheless a groundbreaking performer. He should have the respect in death he was not allowed to receive in life.

This whole series is fascinating. Thank you. You can learn alot about the celebrities by their graves. It is fascinating to see how some celebrities have simple graves (no different than the average person would have) or niches, while others have monuments bigger than the Lincoln Monument. While I appreciate the modesty of the celebrities with the small graves, the more grand graves are the most interesting.

I think people need to remember that Perry was working in Hollywood at a different time so his character reflected the era. The civil rights leaders who criticized him failed to realize that he actually opened the door for legions of black actors so people like Poitier and Washington could land roles which were off limits at the time. Thanks for the video and I'm glad you're feeling better and nice hat.

Take it easy & take care of yourself! ::hug:: I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos! You should be a historian for Hollywood. Drew Barrymore is one of my favorite actresses & I didn't know she had ties to the Costellos as well! That's amazing! She's got acting gold in her blood! I think feature wise, she takes after the Barrymores though. If you look at pictures of Georgiana Drew Barrymore (who is her great-granddaughter's namesake), the resemblance is uncanny!

Dear Arthur Can I just say what a wonderful job you and your team do of Hollywood Graveyard. I have watched all of them and all exhibit such polish and professionalism they are a pleasure to watch. You said in one of of your Dvds that youd rather be behind the camera, well it doesnt show. You have a beautiful voice that perfectly suits the subject matter. The accuracy and research shows because as a scholar of pre 1950 cinema ,I have not found one mistake yet. In addition, the film clips of the entertainers, both great and small, add a wonderful dimension to the star in question allowing them to "live" again even for a few moments. Orchids to all at Hollywood Graveyard!

I learned something new today. As usual, you sent me scrambling to research someone. Even though I grew up in the 60’s, I never saw a Stepin Fetchit movie. I didn’t know it was a movie character. I did hear it used as a verb. If one person asked another to do something that they didn’t want to do, they would say “do it yourself. I’m not your step and fetch it! “ so today when I saw your video, and looked him up, I saw that many blacks hated his portrayal of a character that was lazy and appeared to be unintelligent, and that is a horrible stereotype. I couldn’t help but notice that in the clip you provided, the well dressed, well spoken men are also black. A positive image for black men, especially in that era. An ideal really.
