Tbh this is just internet in general. Especially in gaming where things could get competitive. Some people might have just said it lightly or as a small joke. But yeah, expecting the internet to behave in a certain way is just too unrealistic and it's like setting yourself up for disappointment. The best way to handle this is to just learn from the criticism and filter out the negativity. What I like about this was how she handled it. Yes she broke down and wasn't able to filter out the negativity completely. Sometimes we can't really help but get affected no matter how much we try to ignore harsh comments. But after letting out all the negativity, she was able to bounce back and said it was fun and she's hoping to become a better player next time. It didn't end as a sad pity party. That made me respect her a lot more. It's kinda pointless to get mad at the internet. You can't count on this type of behaviour to go away soon. Instead, I think it's better to learn how people could respond to this type of situation. Imo, if more people respond to this behaviour with class, it could help a lot in making toxic behaviour go away as it'd stop being "cool".

@Azathot Sleeping Chaos Only if done incredibly carefully and constructively and, though admittedly not always, often best done by someone the person receiving the comment trusts. It should also be done while pointing out the positives too. "This and this and this was really good for these reasons, but this seems like it could use some work to help make this better in this way." would be a pretty good format for constructive criticism type comments. Unfortunately most negative comments are more like "You suck, why don't you do this other thing I like? I really hated when you did this." or often much worse, and that kinda thing just wears on people and causes harm without benefit.

Characters don't really matter too much in terms of personal skill. You may choose to pick defensive characters and play it aggressively if you've got the skill (especially in a game like Apex). You can play as a support character and still play badly as a support or kill players be sheer skill. People are just expecting too much out of Matsuri which only puts too much pressure on her. Let her enjoy the game while getting better at it, no point in getting better when you feel frustrated doing it.

Isn't that literally the reason why they're trolls in the first place? They like to see people suffer and depressed and shit. Their motto is like "If i can't be happy, then others shouldn't be allowed to as well!" type of crap. Why do you think antis exist that literally destroys the careers of vtubers and even goes as far as to harass them irl as well? My point being, no matter how much we try to voice out our thoughts against the haters, they will not just simply obey and apologize to the people they harass. As long as there are people that they can piss off, they WILL keep on doing so. The only thing that we can do, as a viewer and as a fellow human being, is to give her words of encouragement instead to help her strenghten her mentality against trolls and haters. It's the only thing the streamer can do so that she can withstand their attempts of criticism against her.

I'm really glad to hear Kaga and Towa have Matsuri's back, but it's really upsetting to hear how people treated Matsuri who's just trying her best where she feels she can contribute the most. I get people get heated during PvP games, especially when it's something as competitive as a Tournament even if it's just for fun, but it doesn't give people an excuse to treat her the way they did... and most people like me would tell people like that to F off, but it always amazes me how our Idols despite taking such comments don't retaliate, but humbly take those words and try to do better. The people who said the things they did to Matsuri don't deserve that, but yet, they're always reminding us how amazing they can be in the face of adversity. I'll keep rooting for team Matsuri, Kaga, and Towa even more now. I hope the three of them stick together, and I hope the next time they have fun instead of taking this crap... and I feel that's more important here than winning it all, we often forget the journey is just as, if not more important than the Destination. Also, thank you for this Translation, as someone who can't speak Japanese and only knows basic words, this is the only window into knowing what our Idols go through during their streams, and despite spending my time in Towa's streams mainly, I would of never knew what Matsuri was going through, nor her relationship with Towa and Kaga. People ought to learn eventually that not everything has to be taken seriously. Literally none of these girls competes on a professional level, not this team, not any other team, no one here is an actual professional apex player, this isn't a professional tournament with $100k on stake. It's just a tournament with no prize pool, amongst friends and friends of friends, with fun as the main focus. Fun is probably a word the people typing stuff like this don't understand, which is quite sad. To put this into a perspective you might have an easier time to understand.. You're basically just telling some young girl she's useless. There's nothing else to it. Doesn't matter if it's a game or you're in a chat or if the person streams or not. All you're doing, is telling a young girl that she's useless. Would you call your sister useless for having fun playing a game? And continue barratting her even though it's obvious it's upsetting her? If the answer to that is yes, you need to see a fucking doctor, because something is seriously wrong with you.

Thats not true, the ones with personal coaches were playing more serious. The teams with coaches didn't receive these types of comments that Matsuri and Towa got. Your explanation of not taking everything seriously won’t fit in all criteria’s since it can also just be an excuse to be lazy and will just make it harder for you to improve. Just because it isn’t a big professional tournament with a large prize pool doesn’t mean you can’t take it seriously. For example I have had tournaments with my friends but if you don’t take it seriously you basically insulting everyone else. Yes, you are there to play against or with your friends but you are also trying to win. @@ameame32 No, it isn't. I can guarantee you that not a single one of the pricks who wrote mean comments is acting out of "jealousy"; the reality is that they simply don't care that it'll hurt her feelings, don't care that it's just a game for fun (not that it would be appropriate to say such things were it professional anyways), and overall are simply mean-spirited types. I agree that they're bastards, but "jealous" is often simply not the case. Many people are just assholes to streamers. So it was, so it is, and so it always will be. I mean, how many times have you run into someone in your daily life who's extraordinarily rude and mean for no reason? It probably happens somewhat occasionally, especially if you work in the service industry or any other occupation where you deal with a lot of people. Well, now imagine that they can hide behind anonymity, there's not really a chance the streamer can retort, and there are thousands of random people from all over the world dropping in in such a short period of time. That's why I sometimes get annoyed when some people comments "This is a pain to watch" when any of the girls we're playing not efficiently and they want them to do this or that. @kaleria608

My response to those people: "If it's so painful, don't watch." It's not a hard concept really, no one is forcing anyone to watch a stream they're not enjoying. Also, unsolicited advice, be it helpful in your eyes or not, is still unsolicited and can easily be taken as trying to tell them what to do and not as trying to help. If they didn't ask for it, you're better off keeping your comments to yourself and either enjoying them for the way they play or just leaving.

I remember PlagueofGripes here on YT mentioned when he started getting into Vtubers that he noticed a lot of people in chat tend to try and steer said vtuber on certain games. Undertale was one that came to mind when I first watched Matsuri play it. A kind of weird vicarious sort of thing where said fans were trying to live that same moment they felt in that game when they played thru that person(vtuber in this case) so they experience what they felt from the game. Kinda like I guess say you watched a movie you thought was super amazing or a super funny YT video like say your fave Vtuber to a friend you think may be interested in Vtubers too. You'll notice they aren't watching the movie or video, but rather the friend to see their reaction and sort of feed this vicarious desire to hopefully see them react the way you did when you first seen it.

I did the whole competitive thing when I was younger. Went to a few LANs, met some great people. Wasn't pro level but was decent enough. Internet was different back then though, streaming wasn't such a big thing like it is these days. The thing is, people that throw hate at you don't really know you. They're responding to their perception of you in their head, they don't know you as a person. That's why I never really took it personally, everyone had their own preconceptions. People I had barely even spoken to called me arrogant just because I was decent at the game, but not one of them spoke to me on an individual level. (Apart from one of them who was nice in person but a snake online, go figure.) I never played competitively for other people, though. It was more about proving something to myself, or seeing how good I can get out of curiosity. Other people were, in a sense, just external markers of my own progress. Sure, I'd rage and I'd get pissed off, but it was rarely directed at others, even if I took it out on them. But because I'm a fairly private person, I wouldn't want the pressure of an audience following my every move unless I was already confident. I couldn't imagine having to display my anxious/insecure side to "the world" like that.

I'm glad that she brought it up and not keep it to herself. Who knows how many other streamers see the few negative comments and were hurt personally but don't show it on stream. Makes me want to support them more than I already can.

First of all, the Vtubers who participated in the tournament were not professional players. Second, this Vtuber tournament was held for them to have fun and try to win, so they could feel the tournament atmosphere that they had never felt before. Even basic things like this they can't understand it, I really believe the people who say such evil things are useless societal trash that is only selfish. There is no achievement in life that they can show to the community, they are so bored that they look for other people's busyness. Sorry for bad English, I'm using Google translate. I just can't keep silent for this situation. I REALLY HOPE MATSURI WON'T TRAUMA SO SHE CAN PARTICIPATE AGAIN IN THE TOURNAMENT IN NEXT SEASON. LOVE YOU MATSURI! ❤️

this video came out right around when i just started playing apex, this is honestly one of the games i ABSOLUTELY love , I've tried cod too and some other fps games but apex just gives a different vibe, and after around 2 days of grinding as a new player, I finally have the courage to do my first ranked match.. but it didn't go as planned, the guy was very rude to me it just traumatized me to even play ranked anymore.. thank you for the translation!

This frustrates me so much in so many ways that I don't even know where to start. In any case, though it would be no less cruel and unnecessary if she was terrible, I find it especially upsetting because she's really not awful at the game. She's not amazing, she slips under pressure sometimes, and like anyone she has places to improve - but she competes at Diamond in solo, which, if you look at player distribution, is a pretty small percentage. Hell, even if you rate her actual skill as Gold it's still in the top half. I'm no Apex expert, but looking at raw numbers I'd say that's not bad at all, and she's always working hard at improving. So she underperformed at the tournament, so what? She's fighting to improve at something she loves, and we should support that. And if your reason for getting angry is that she dragged down a teammate who you wanted to do better, then consider that they, too, wouldn't have worked with her if they didn't think she could keep up with them.

This hurt to watch. Bro, those type of people are annoying. I don’t watch Matsuri’s streams because of what she’s doing or playing, I watch them because she’s the one who’s playing or doing what she is. I watch her for her, not for the things she does. She’s doing her best and having fun, sharing it with her fans is something she doesn’t have to do. It honestly hurt to hear Matsuri cry because of the comments.
