I really try not to be such a Holosun fan boy. But they make that a very difficult prospect. They are the first company in a while to really try to innovate in practical ways as far as reflex dots go while keeping prices reasonable. Very interesting - this tech is also likely used in the large MG reflex sights that Holosun/Huanic produces for PLA vehicle mounted heavy MG's (large, scaled-up versions of the 510 - supplied under the brand "Hwoyoung" for domestic sales to the PLA and PAP). The HS510c was also seen in use last fall in the 80th Army Group of the PLA in a joint military exercise in southern Russia - the HS510c was used in combination with the 3x magnifier atop the new QBZ-191 assault rifle. I've got a Vortex UH-1 on one gun and a 510 on another... switch everything off and stick them in a case for a few months, come back and guess what: the Holosun is 100% good to go, while invariably the Vortex holo will have completely discharged its battery despite being powered off. The first time I just assumed I was incompetent and had somehow left the holosight on, and that somehow it had failed to auto-power-off. I replaced the battery, double-checked the sight was off and stored both guns again. Came back again a few months later and the Vortex had done the exact same thing again. I have to store the Vortex with its battery removed. The 510 never misbehaves, and it's smaller and lighter and cheaper and has a drastically-crisper reticle. Surely there's got to be a scenario in which the magic holographic reticle affords some kind of extra utility, but as someone who isn't a real operator and just plinks at targets from time to time, I haven't found it.

It's largely due to the large US military contracts - that's where most of the money is, so the consumer market takes a back seat. Huanic (Holosun's parent company) uses the US commercial market for beta testing, along with the People's Armed Police (the optics are branded as "Hwoyoung" for domestic contracts). They're just now being adopted in certain units of the PLA (HS510c & magnifier for the QBZ-191, and the 507c on sidearm).
@cynops38852 жыл бұрын
@@Hoplopfheil Combined with the advanced state of consumer electronics development in China, I'm not surprised that they can produce high quality red dots. Lots of smart electronic and optical engineers there. Huanic has a patented high-efficiency multi-pattern emitter, used in SIG's Romeo series with circle dot reticles. That's the primary reason why the SIG Romeo 8t has such a long battery life compared to the MRO-HD - the 8t's emitter is made by Huanic, whereas Trijicon's is made domestically.

Is it only the HS510C, SCS, and AEMS that can do this? A lot of their optics list having the "solar failsafe" feature so I thought all of their optics with that feature were capable of running without a battery. Their website doesn't exactly make this very clear. I really like their 512 models as it just looks like they took the 510 and made it completely encased. But if it isn't capable of running without a battery, that tips the scales more toward the 510 again.

They all are capable of running without a battery, but the 510c and certain other models have a super-capacitor to run without a battery or any light.

@@jpowens2253 Wish their site would have it in the description if it has it or not.

I was very surprised when you mentioned their site doesn't mention the solar battery/super capacitor, so I had to compare the American site with the European one, and you are definitely right. The American version merely mentions solar cells but doesn't say anything else, whereas in the European version, it mentions there's a super capacitor. The 512's super capacitor is 1mAh, allowing for 200 hours of battery at medium setting, whereas the 510's is 6mAh for 1200 hours, and the AEMS is 12mAh.

@@replacesoundboard Thank you for pointing this out! I'll have to cross reference the European site on the products for information going forward.

I think you wrong. What you demonstrated was auto brightness vs manual. When you covered the sight it adjusted to changed lighting conditions. This is just my opinion based on experience. I own 15+ holosun sights. Nice view, by the way.

Are the new products from EOTECH just marketing hype? I previously hated on EoTech. But the new red dot and 1-10 lpvo look really nice. Any input?

Damn, thats a featureset I want in my sight. Haven't checked the price, but hope it isn't too crazy, since its Holosun.
