I would add an altar cloth-something pretty with lace. I’m actually making several different colors to go with the liturgical seasons, and try to switch them out

My family Bible many years ago was purchased at a rummage sale; it's the exact one you have! It has been with me for years. I actually brought it with me before Hurricane Katrina. I am most thankful for that because my home was completely washed away in the Hurricane!

I got a small plastic statue of St Joseph for 99¢ at a thrift store. I always look for statues and pictures at the thrift store. I got a huge picture of the sacred heart of Jesus for $5.

I love that we have put together an altar and that everybody recognized it as really important for all. Today my youngest had virtual classes, and during his religion class he was telling his teacher and friend about our altar. He was very proud to have one and giving ideas! It was such a sweet moment I will cherish forever. I wish I had a video like this years ago. I always thought of it as complicated and even that I didnt deserved one. I also had the budget idea of printing out images and sticking them to my office wall. Even black and white. Is simple and doable.

That Holy Bible is so beautiful ❤️❤️ In our prayer corner my favorite pieces are a wood Russian icon of Resurrection and, as a good Italian, a beautiful copy of Comedia of Dante Alighieri (expecially a beautiful illustrated copy of Paradise)

It is so awesome you can find such things at thrift stores. We live in a Catholic area (about an 1 hour ish south of NDU), but never find such things ever at garage sales or antique stores, etc. But dollar treed did have 2 little magnets one of Jesus as the Good Sheppard and one of a picturenof a mart Cement statue. Also a canvas type of Icon style look. That one was amazing because it was the last one and just seemed to be directed toward me.

Not sure where you would store it when you're not using it but what about something like a stiff suitcase or briefcase of some sort and keep all your items in it until you're ready to pray and then use it like a table?

I am a thrift store enthusiast, but living in a heavily Protestant area, one is hard-pressed to find these items in thrift stores. As a late-in-life convert, I love the concept of a home altar/shrine.

Em nossa casa devemos ter um altar para orarmos a DEUS agradecendo e pedindo proteção saúde discernimento para nós mesmos, nossos familiares, toda a humanidade e o planeta com tudo que contém : agua, animais , arvores..... Orar sempre mantendo nosso altar limpo, organizado com flores, santos de devoção, orações, Biblia. Se cada lar tivesse seu altar e se as pessoas orassem pelo bem e praticassem o bem o mundo seria melhor.

I think of things at the thrift store as belonging previously to someone who loved them but had to downsize or who is now among the Church Triumphant with heirs who already have too much. Sending those items to the thrift store gives them the opportunity to bless someone else instead of just going to the landfill.
