This is my all time favorite Christmas song. Have heard many different renditions of it and loved them all. Home Free's rendition just happens to be my personal favorite. Thank you and hope your Christmas season is filled with love, happiness and peace.

I agree. I like PTX a lot, but some things seem just too much trying or something. I enjoy the simplicity yet complexity balance of Home Free... it feels more 'genuine' I guess is what I mean. 💁♀️

@@momD612 Good choice of words. I always used to think that PTX was the epitome of a acapella but since discovering HF I like them better. Yes, I at first thought their arrangements were simpler. But the more I listen I realize how complex they are without seeming so. I agree with everything you said.

Thanks for your comment on appreciating each version for what each singer or group does to make it uniquely their own. I agree totally. There will never be a favorite. See, to me there's nobody even close to doing this song as powerfully as this is done, not even Mark Lowry himself. To me it's about the energies, the way the lyrics are put into its true meaning, the way they emphasize certain parts of it to highlight and bring it up and out into the open. The pauses, the enforcements made by the bass drops and by the highs. Especially the pause and emphasis put on "I AM" as those are the most important words we actually can use since our minds have no option but to believe what we think and feel when we think those words, and we think them thousands of times a day subconsciously. That's a known fact to those who understand the mind and human well-being. To be given this gift of those two words in such a beautiful and powerful way with such an empowering emphasis is a true blessing, and it's not in disguise. It changed me in my core forever, moved me into my heart and soul even more, and it allowed me to see myself and my life through my heart and soul in a truer way. I feel differently. I feel safer, more like me, and I know for a fact that my life is and always will be magical without a doubt. Before this I had doubts. I no longer do. So, I strongly disagree with you. No version will ever come close to this to me. 🥰🙏

Out of curiosity, I listen to the PTX version last week, for comparison. I've always had a preference for HF over PTX but could never pinpoint why...and this song comparison helped to nail it for me. PTX is very percise, as is HF...both have outstanding harmonies. Individually, each singer is so good they could have solo careers. But with PTX, if you aren't looking, there are a couple of voices so alike you can't tell who is singing, so a certain lack of diversity of sound. That would seem to be an advantage in harmonizing, but turns out it isn't. HF has very individual voices (it doesn't take much to know who is singing a lead without looking) and yet when they sing together it melds into something so much warmer, so much greater than the individual parts. That's the word...HF has a sound that is warmer where, to my ear, PTX has a colder sound. But that's just my ear; I'm sure others would disagree.
@ppresley92083 жыл бұрын
Amen to that !!!

Arnieadam, I DON'T disagree! Once again, I'm going to totally agree with everything you said! As I also mentioned on another channel, PTX's version actually "displeased" my ears! I truly didn't want to be biased because I heard PTX before I ever heard Home Free, but as soon as I was introduced to HF, I was hooked! I think they emit some kind of magical music dust! Everything about HF's version of this song is as close to perfection as humanly possible!😇😊

Lyle, the focus Home Free has put on the message is what makes this version the best for me! With the beautiful but simple background, their simple but incredible vocal parts & harmonies, it takes the focus off of them & puts the spotlight on what the birth of our Savior truly means. Add Chance's unbelievable bass runs & Adam's inhuman sounds & you have a masterpiece that none of the other groups have given me! 😇😊

I'm 95% sure that Bass drop wasn't Tim. I think it was actually Chance in harmony with Adam. If you notice Adam was doing a lot of Bass drum on this track and was sustaining the sounds, so when Chance hit his drop it was like an echo effect.

I have several versions of this song on my playlist, including this one of course. Others are sung by the Tenors and by Chris Rupp feat 7th Ave. That video was done in 2017 and I barely recognized Chris at first, with hair and no cap or cowboy hat. Still sexy though.

I'm so glad you did this one again, especially since I didn't know you had already reacted to it on a stream, was hoping for your trademark "double dip" and you didn't disappoint. This one is a masterpiece and for me the new definitive version of the oft covered classic. Btw, contrary to popular belief, that bass drop you pointed out was neither Tim nor Chance. Nope, that was Adam!

I was sure was not Tim, but I was thinking was a combination of adam and chance, like was for the drop in sold between tim and adam. Just cous to my ear id does not sound a full troath bass note but more a mix of troath and growl

You're right; Mark wrote an incredible song. And, you're right; each group brings something different to their version, and we should just appreciate it and not make it some silly "competition" of who's version is 'best." The best one is the one that touches your soul.

Easily one of their best songs they have point out. But you can’t deny the fact that if Chance wasn’t apart of this group, and Chris was still in it, this song would just not have worked the way it did. Chance took them to another level as a group and this song helps magnify that point tenfold.
