Matt Atwood, Adam's best friend from childhood, was Home Free's original tenor. He retired from Home Free because he and his wife had recently had a child he wanted to spend more time with, and his dad had cancer and needed Matt to come run the family real estate business. There's another part of the Patreon party where they mention that Matt (who was at the party and sang some with them) "owned half of Mankato," so he's done quite well for himself. They found Austin at just the right moment to replace him.

Home Free's been going for more than 23 years at this point - and back in 2012, they were touring in the Mid-West and doing guest entertainer slots on cruise ships, already full-time musicians. But Matt Attwood, Adam Rupp's school friend and fellow founder of the group, had a wife and a baby and wanted to settle down, just at the time they met Austin. So Austin joined in early 2013, they went on the Sing-Off later that year, and it switched their careers to a whole new level. This was the last time Chris sang with the group, his farewell concert was a day or so before. So they brought out a lot of the material they'd done before the Sing-Off as a special event for patrons, and another farewell to him.

Austin replaced Matt Atwood after he left the group. Matt, Chris and Adam Rupp were the three core members. This was the day after Chris's last concert. After " the kiss". Tim was playfully flirting with Chris. It was funny. They were all a little drunk. Looks like a fun party. Tim was awesome in this! Thanks Corey for the request! You rock!

I have seen a few versions of Tim doing this song. I remember hearing the original by "Sam The Sham & The Pharaohs" in 1966. Tim has the perfect voice for this song. Amazing how high & then low he can go.

This was the night after the infamous Ring of Fire kiss, thus Tim going, "Chris" at one point and referencing Chris wearing red on purpose. The entire Patreon party was pretty crazy, with such lines as, (Austin:) "Tim's a easy switch nowadays" and (Tim:) "Mom, we need to talk" and (Matt:) "When I was in the group, we didn't kiss on stage."

It's usually Austin who forgets lyrics from time to time. The video Colder Memory Lapse I think is the most infamous of these. I like to double-feature that video with Home Free Falls. Not a memory fail, and it's Tim that gets the focus this time, and just as funny.

So fun. The party before Chris left and right after " the kiss". That's why Tim was so focused on Chris and giving him a hard time. Lol. Much alcohol may have been involved. Thrre is a whole video of their farewell concert and one of this Patreoon party. Chris has a video series on The History of Home Free that is very interesting to watch. He brings in the guys and they all are pretty open about the stories they tell. Thanks for the Home Free reactions.

Matt Atwood,one of the original members decided to stay home. He had a baby,plus his Dad wasn't doing well, so he took over the family business in Mankato. Austin was in a group where Home Free heard him sing Bring Him Home from Les Miserable. They were very interested in him because they knew Matt was leaving. Austin in the meantime heard them and wanted to be in the group. He and Tim sat up all night drinking and talking about a capella. There may have been drinking going on during that Patreon partty🎉😊🎉

"this Patreon party" they're at was the day after the infamous kiss! In Tim's farewell speech he gave about Chris (y'all watched it, remember?) he mentioned 'how glad he was that he was going to get to sing with Chris again tomorrow'. Yeah Austin worked cruise ships as did Home Free and he met them on a cruise ship and told them he’d love to join them. When Home Free’s tenor retired they hired Austin right before they went on the Sing Off in 2013. Tim was messing with Chris as I think Chris was going to retire soon too and was to be replaced by Chance. This was at a Patreon Party for Home Free, so very casual and lots of drinking. There's a fan video I saw once where Rob was singing Colder Weather and he got ever so slightly off track. Tim caught the little slip and asked Rob "What's that?", so Rob replied back " Don't worry about it please, thank you" so Tim didn't say anything else.

The patreon party was a very relaxed, fun atmosphere. The guys sang songs from before their time on the sing-off thus they were rusty with the lyrics. Plus they were a little drunk. lol I don't think they even had an engineer that night. Someone else who was there correct me if I'm wrong. I'll admit my eyes were solely on the stage. The Patreon party is one of my fondest Home Free memories.

It has been mentioned that Tim was getting loaded with all the beer fans kept giving him. Didn't hurt his performance one bit. Austin said oh lord someone's gonna die tonight when they brought up more beer for Tim before he started singing. He sang this with beer in hand. LOL Tim and Rob used to really pound back the booze. Rob was a bartender for several years and he says he drank a phenomanol amount of beer. Both have totally quit. Dunno bout the other guys. It's rumored Austin's choice is mushrooms and weed. I don't care, not being judgmental. Just mouthing when I prolly shouldn't. Adam Rupp is often called the Rupster. editing....just noticed that after having seen this 100 times Tim goes over and knocks back a shot that a fan had ready for him when he stopped singing. I've heard there's lots of fun at the patreon parties....back then. LOL

With Home Free being in existence since 2000 (officially first performing at a church talent show in early 2001) They have had many members over that time. But as others have said, Matt Attwood was the high tenor before. Caution...the quality is not great because it is 2010. But it was recorded and uploaded by Adam and Chris' sister, Tristin. Pre - Sing Off and Pre -Austin!
