Chance's voice has a softness and a sincerity to it that just works in certain songs. He sounds like he's actually awed by the woman he's singing about, if that makes sense, like he's letting us see this vulnerable side of himself. I often find Chance's voice is best for these vulnerable or melancholy songs. He manages to put so much emotion in it.

HF usually picks the voice that fits the song the best. They let everyone have a chance to shine in a show or on an album. Austin said in an interview that both he and Rob were interested in singing lead for Bless The Broken Road, so they split it, and both sounded great. He also said that when they were considering Blue Ain't Your Color, they thought Austin would sing lead... until they heard Rob sing it. The guys all know each other's strengths and weaknesses, and cater to the song rather than their egos.

That really comes out in Country Road. They took years to perfect it. Each voice elevates it to new heights. Truly a masterpiece.

I think where you thought Rob was "layered" was actually Rob, Austin and Chance singing in a 3 part close harmony, they can sing together and almost sound like one rich layered voice when they harmonize.

To be fair, since this is a studio version, it is possible that they layered Rob for the recording, but for any live performances would have the other guys sing the tight harmonies. I do hear Austin more clearly, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t just multiple Robs and an Austin for the recording.

You can hear Chance. If you listen to Helplessly Helping, you can recognize the combination of Rob and Chance. Austin is probably in there as well.

Thank you for showing Chance some respect..his tone is very comforting..imo...I've heard reactors say he doesn't add anything to the mix..I disagree wholeheartedly...his lead in Brother was top notch and I've always enjoyed his contributions..all of his..😁... I love the way they did this song. I like that you did have some nice words for Chance. I would really love for you to do I Can't Outrun You. Chance does an outstanding job. If you hear it and it doesn't change your mind then we just have to accept your opinion that he is not your cup of tea. Reactors are on here to say how they feel and if it's different from how a listener thinks or feels then it is what it is. I will continue to follow you.

It's ok. You can like Chance and Timsie equally !! Different voices, different songs, different leads, but both are always so damn good at what they do. This was a mashup of Keith Urban's 'Female' and Dierks Bentley's 'Woman, Amen' with Austin singing the Keith Urban part at about 1.5x speed of the original.

There are a couple videos of them doing it live and you can see it is Chance and Austin. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean the recording was them (In the early days, if Tim was singing 'up' Chris did the bass line live, but for the recordings, it was Tim because it sounded better), but I believe it was.

Chance shines in a different way sometimes, I think. It's tough to put him up against Tim and Austin, Rupp and Rob sometimes because their unique talents are so "in your face" type thing. But when they bring Chance in, he has the most sincere voice I've ever heard. I "believe" him more. It's hard to explain, but it has something to do with his tone/tambour/timber/whatever. I'm normally a Tim girl, but when they put Chance in there at the right place/right time type thing, he sends the message home and it's everything. Thanks for reacting to this one, Jeremy!

They are vocal acrobats. At times it is hard to tell one voice from the other and other times there is absolutely no doubt who is who. They can add the country or remove it. Just amazing abilities. I hate to admit it, but until I was watching the live performances, I did not notice that Adam was singing during Chance's solo after Austin's recitation.
@jasonsomething6003 Жыл бұрын
The thing about Home Free that kills me the most is how or whom may be the lead! If all the members can share the lead the better! Simply put Adam Rupp is simply next level making the foundation with the beats, but the other members.. whom decides the lead!? Home Free-"LISTEN TO THE MUSIC" is a must! Home Free-"COUNTRY ROADS TAKE ME HOME".. John Denver cover. peace

Considering how many words Austin had to get out for his short section. I was kinda surprised they had him do this part seeing that he has been known to forget lyrics sometimes. 😂 But they all sounded wonderful. Love the catchy beat that moves it along. Glad you liked it. Thanks 😊❤

I love this mash-up so much that you don't even realize it's a mash-up. With each member singing the perfect part and Adam's magnificent beatboxing. And what they sing I also think they are so real to their wives. I had a partner who often said that he was happy that he had me, that he was nothing without me, etc. Unfortunately, that was also a reason for him to be jealous and really claimed me. And while I did everything for him and he went the right way, later on he chose the wrong way again. He passed away four and a half years ago. And because we had not arranged anything on paper, I lost everything we had built and earned together. Respect and appreciate the love you have🫶 By the way, I totally agree with you about Chance. What many also forget is that Chance takes over on bass when Tim takes the lead. But then again, the more you hear Chance's voice, the more you appreciate it. I know you never thought he was bad, but just needed to hear the right song.😊

I can't disagree with ya at all. Elements of vocals is huge and with HF, you simply have a smorgasbord for the feeling and sound you're looking for (when arranging); the versatility is just unmatched. And this one being a mash-up of Dierks Bentley and Keith Urban tunes; mash-ups and medleys work so well with HF. Chance has that smokey smoothness that moves so well that is just down-right soft but with texture, warm and moving; it's delivery tbh and it is "natural" to him. Note: there is A LOT in that with Chance - the ability, sound, blends. It does take time with listening and so hard to catch, so good in fact that more often than not, it takes the visual to catch (and ya say "Really?" :). Love it! Be Safe
