The Sudan Hoagie is named after the movie line "Shoot for the Sudan" from White Man Can't Jump. The name came about after the owner posted a picture of the hoagie on social media and received a lot of positive feedback. The owner and their friends often quote movie lines, and the line from White Man Can't Jump inspired the name.

I live in Wilmington; but, how am I always learning new Delaware spots from you, and I live here?lol Btw, i did drive to Dover for the seafood sub. I still need to check out the gargantuan cheesesteak spot in Newark. I've been to Philly for quite a few spots too. Hello JL Jupiter I watched your video at the HOLMES HOAGIE. I said I got to have one of these. I called and ordered the Sudan with out corn beef was delicious .The people were so nice. HOAGIE was so fresh and good tasting. I couldn’t even close the bread after 10 bites. It was packed full of goodness and I just wanted to tell you thank you so much, HOLMES HOAGIE is everything you said and More !!! they a 10-10 on my scale off the chart Food I can’t wait to go back this weekend and I just ate it two days ago

I'm from Compton, CA., born and raised, but my mom's from Philly. Every time I would visit my mom's side of the family as a child, my uncle would take me to buy a hoagie. He knew how much I enjoyed them. I fell in love ever since.

The lady Martna1 in these comments tells the HISTORY & ORIGINS of the “naming” of this sandwich, but a SIMILAR sandwich just like that one has been in our area for DECADES, it is called a Nigerian Hoagie tho. Only difference is, they’re using Corn Beef, Beef Pastrami & SMOKED Turkey on this sandwich while the Nigerian uses Corn Beef, Roast Beef & “regular” Turkey meat for the Nigerian Hoagie. Either way, when EVER somebody has a Nigerian Hoagie on their menu, that has ALWAYS been the ONLY sandwich I get. Can’t wait to try this.😘👌🏾
