Now in my 70's and I am now very sure that simple, no stress is the only way to go. I drive an old, but reliable car, I have few clothes, I actively think about how I want to spend my time and deciding what I want to eat. Going to university, having heaps of money will never guarantee your happiness. Learning to know your values and how you want to be and live is what it's all about....,xxx

Generations of children grew up without love notes or cutesy snacks in their lunches. These children grew up to be happy, responsible adults in spite of this "lack". A brown paper bag with a turkey & cheese sandwich, apple & mini bag of chips was enough to make them happy. An occasional cookie was a bonus.

Love Kathryn. She has saved me money by turning me on to Dollar Tree products that work and that I would have overlooked. She gives us great cleaning "hacks" like using a broom to clean your bathtub and simplifies DIYs so that even someone like me isn't afraid to try one.

Thank you to two of my favorite ladies! I feel like I’ve known you both forever and have followed both of your advice and suggestions for years. I went through the same things while my kids were growing up, and what the two of you talked about affirmed everything that I felt while helping my kids in their difficult school years. Again, thank you!

What a wonderful podcast that I have been waiting for, the Queens of You Tube. I let my sons try everything available in our area and loved every minute. Soccer, t-ball and bowling. Baseball and bowling stuck. I believe we had a lot of trials and errors, life is an adventure. High school was football, wresting, basketball and track. No regrets. TFS 🥰🥰🙏🙏👍👍

Schools in the UK still have a half-term & 3 bank holidays in May. Most schools don’t break up until the end of July & then go back at the beginning of September.

excellent podcast! allowing children to make choices and have responsibility helps them build the skill of making choices. i was impressed with child development expert who recommended parents start with toddler age...do you want the red shirt or the blue shirt today? and this builds the ability for making choices later in life when the choices may be much weightier, using drugs, being influenced by others. Butterflies are great in the garden, providing children choices is important. You are both wonderful and bring so much positive energy so thank you!

Comparison is the thief of joy... For all that Pinterest is great for ideas, when you start to judge yourself poorly because you are not keeping up with a posed lunch, think of before all these options at your fingertips, we used to not compare so much...

Kathryn answered that her kids would be returning “in a few weeks” and Cass specified in the podcast they don’t go back until September in Canada. So it’s safe to surmise that they recorded this last summer, presumably in August, now posting to YT in April 2023. Their suggestions for recognizing or managing transitions can still be connected with and applied any time of year though. 😉

As a teacher, I’ll tell you right now that half of the fruit that is packed doesn’t get eaten at all. Teachers do not judge what is the the lunch box unless it’s all cookies and chips.

Most schools send the kids to eat and the teachers go to there room or break room to eat. 1 teacher manages the lunchroom with other staff. Wr are just thankful full kis have meals to eat. So many don't have them.

Honestly one day I’ll watch a video by you next day I’ll watch something by ms do it on a dime. But both of you come at your problems or not with a joyful additude even if you aren’t always in a good mood. And that’s more realistic and more enjoyable to see then if you were to hide your authentic selves. That’s why I watch them because then I know other people struggle with things as well.

Some parenting advice from someone whose grand kids are older than your kids. Do not talk about them on social media. Too much information about teenagers whose friends can also see this. It's their story to tell. Did you ask them how'd they'd feel about you discussing them on your social media?

I don't think she exposed too much. Especially after coming from covid that 80% of the population is dealing with mental health issues. I do understand where you're coming from. I ask for my children's consent before I speak about them with other people.

Why do you younger women do this to yourself? This is real life. Just do your best and stop trying to be someone you are not. Stop listening to celebrities and Hollywood and the advertisers. They're all screwed up.

One thought, forcing kids to “finish” can backfire into “I won’t start anything cause if I hate it I’m stuck being unhappy” I think you know your kid, make a deal with each individual, examples… for kid 1 , you know he can’t find the fun until he has relaxed so 5 lessons before he quits. Kid 2 knows themselves and if they aren’t happy after 2 lessons stopping is ok. Of course it’s money so they have to know, the next activity will have to be something free or they will have to find a way to fund it or wait for next “season” Making kids finish for the sake of finishing isn’t really worth the mental toll on all the family. Just my 2cents so it worth all of it 😉🤣

Lunch box notes? Butterfly bags? Gourmet lunches? Growing up it was either peanut butter or bologna sandwiches, homemade cookies and an apple (maybe). When did all this insanity start? Our parents didn't have time for such nonsense.
