Loving this part of the build Jeff, I'm about to do all the rust repairs on my 67 F100 cab. Thankfully they've just started making roof skins for my model! Also, how good are the guys at Classic Pickup Supplies, they're a great team!

The nice thing about this project is the cab is relatively small so you won't get bogged down with a million rust repair videos as I know urchfab has talked about before. I love seeing the transformation and its inspired me to not be scared of projects. It's just one tiny repair at a time... although you do make it look easy!

G'day Mr Jeff, Some serious welding happening in the back section. I do understand the thinking process that we go through just to get to the cutting stage and eventually welding. I find myself sometimes thinking about a piece for days. I actually keep a note pad by my bed for those night time random thoughts. Anyway, thanks for sharing man ✌️ Peace from Melbourne/Pakenham 3810.

Hi Love the channel and your work. Been around since part one of the Alfa. You talked about making a new roof for the Frankenhauler, Its hard to make a roof and it really takes time. Can you instead find a donor one that is close from a wrecker and modify that to fit. Is it also possible you may have a a potential donor in your possession using the roof at the front of the Coaster? Keep up the great work

Hi Jeff, just wondering if you're familiar with @xacoupeguy. Graham makes a living restoring mostly XA, XB and XC Falcon coupes and does his own restoration projects on the side. What you're doing with the F600 cab is very similar to the stuff he does. One interesting restoration he's done is a WWII Stuart tank with a loud and very thirsty radial engine that actually saw active duty in PNG.

This is a bit rustier than I first expected. That’s lot of sheet metal work to do, and then faux patina to do… maybe reconsider the finish? Something tough like navy gray or army green?

For your roof problem if you cannot get a repair section, Ive seen @HalfassKustoms use panel sections from another vehicle with the desired shape that could be easier than starting from scratch. In particular I'm struck by the domed look of your roof that could be quite similar to the one from a classic Mini.

Usually not a huge fan of replacing sheet metal with box section, replacing one part of a construction with something much stronger can make the design as a whole weaker, stiffness jumps create stress risers. But I guess since you are redoing the cab mounts too, that will give you the opportunity to even out the stiffness for the whole load bearing structure.
@HomeBuiltByJeff
@HomeBuiltByJeff 2 ай бұрын
In some cases you are correct, but as this was already the primary structural part of the entire cab, it is only going to improve it.

Those flare side guards you have on the sketch doesn’t look right. Traditionally, race car haulers have large tool boxes underneath for jacks, Jack stand set. That cab support rail was nasty.👍
