You know, when Pentatonix came on the scene, their approach and "recipe" for a great song were really unlike anything that I'd had seen before-including the absolute greats, the legends (Rockapella, Boyz II Men, etc.). And for a few years it was just awesome. Everything they released was an instant buy. In the middle of that you guys came along. And it was good and only got better and better. Meanwhile, in my opinion, PTX became so popular that they lost themselves. Broke my heart. You guys on the other hand just keep crushing it without allowing the success to change you. You're still *you*; still the group everyone fell in love with, still excelling and elevating your craft and bringing great song after great song. Thank you for this song, for all the songs, and for staying real. Several great a cappella groups out there. None better than Home Free.
@cattsunn2 жыл бұрын
I am afraid Pent has little to no control with a label owning their stuff. The Home Free guys have total control so they can be true to themselves. I think Pent would be more themselves if they could get free of their label.
@andygrice90692 жыл бұрын
Maybe they should do "still the one".
@DeerlyMusical22 жыл бұрын
I liked PTX when i first heard them. I watched all the SingOff shows they were on and enjoyed the youthful energy. But then Avi left and the group seemed to go further out. I couldn't keep up. Then I watched the next season of SingOff. Home Free and VoicePlay were on that. I wasn't a fan of VP's female lead, I thought she yelled rather than sang. Along came HF and I was in love. They aren't all "dramatic" like VP, or all hyperactive like PTX; they are down-to-earth, genuine good guys who happen to sing like angels.
@JugglyJen2 жыл бұрын
@@DeerlyMusical2 I agree about PTX - they're nice to listen to, but I've never managed to really get 'into' them. I rather like VoicePlay's dramatics, but that's just my personal preference! I also think they're much better without Honey (who had linked up with them specifically for SingOff at the show producers request, so she's in very few of their other songs).

I have to make a point about this group of singers: THEY DON"T NEED INSTRUMENTS! In this video you never see even one musical instrument, and that's because they have the vocal and physical skills to provide what they need without them. Percussion done by one guy with no drum set, and other music provided by voices of the other members! Made this Doobie Brothers classic sound great yet again!

Linda is it me or does Adam look more into this song than he has in a while. I know their last couple have been slower more mellow songs but he just looks soooo happy I guess is a good word for it. Maybe the bandana was full of energy or something. He always seemed to move a lot more when he wore the bandanas but this one reminds me a lot of the energy he had in songs like Land of the Free. Maybe it's just the song. Looks like Austin trimmed that scraggly ass beard. It looks so much better in this one. He always looked good with his hair and beard the way they were in When A Man Loves A Woman.

August 1972… I had spent the day installing an under dash 8-Track player and two Craig PowerPlay rear window speakers in my 1966 Plymouth Satellite Sebring. I only had one tape to play… the Moody Blues - Days of Future Past. A friend and I were leaving the next afternoon on a 4 hour trip. When he came over he grabbed his tape case (everyone had a case for their 8-track collection), his duffel bag and hopped in. We hit the road… and he mentioned that he had the new Doobies album. I had heard this song on my old tinny crackling factory stereo system and kind of liked it… but, when it came through in full blown 100watts per channel stereo bliss…. I was transfixed. Every vocal expression, change of beat and harmony came through in crystal clear ambrosia… we played that album for two solid hours… interrupted only by track changes between songs! Yeah… it was like that back then! Thanx guys you done good!!!!

Totally Awesome!!! They put their minds to it they simply can sing anything and do it exceptionally well. They cannot be boxed in as a Country vocal group, they bring it to each genre they pursue............ Go Home Free!!!!!!!!!!!!!😎

Love the Doobie Brothers. Can't wait to hear HF's version EDIT: Omg was just thinking that them doing the harmonies on Black Water would sound awesome

@@deanmarion5477 I don't know about way better. Way good? Certainly. They're both so different though. Different time. Different vibe. Both awesome.

This is the very best song since "Ain't Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)"! I've loved this song since it came out & loved the Doobie Brothers (especially when Michael McDonald was with them - saw him live), but this is absolutely incredible WITHOUT instruments & I think the Doobie Brothers would be proud that you guys honored them with this version! Just WOW! Everything about this is perfect! 😊

Ok so, i grew up listening to Doobie Brothers. I really liked them but fell in love with them once Michael McDonald joined. I gotta say you guys slayed this song!!! i had high hopes when i saw you were covering this song and you guys didn't fail me. You put the Home Free spin on it and made it even better! Thank you so much for doing what you do and for being who you are. I love you guys.

This is amazing!!! I could listen to over & over. They are FIRE on this!!! It is perfect & brings back so many memories. This makes me so proud to be a "Home Fry". They made this their own & still gave real to the original singers. Can't stop listening!!!
