We quit putting the lettuce in the cooler before markets. We leave the roots on them and put a little water in the totes too so that it's like they never left our system and they do not wilt in the heat. They don't adjust well from the cooler to the heat of the markets here in the south. Those are great tips Katy! Keep them coming! Chuck

How do you price your produce for sale at the market?? thanks for video
@HomegrownPassion3 ай бұрын
its hard sometime. I know what I need to get per (my costs) but then I look at what other vendors are charging and try to get a feel for what the market will bear. Some markets I can charge more it all just depends

Amazon sells these wonderful flat 14x14 ice packs. They work wonders. They are about 1/2 inch thick.

How do you package basil for the farmer's market?
@HomegrownPassion3 ай бұрын
I used to put 1.3 oz in a crisper when I was selling at the grocery stores. Now I just package in a small plastic bag 3 oz for farm markets.

Good morning, Kate Love your Videos. I have been watching you for years. Yesterday we were harvesting for our Farmers market and when we started pulling out the 5 star, we noticed that the roots have turned tan and were not the shiny white roots that we were accustomed to seeing in our channels. This has taking place in just a few days. we drained and scrubbed the nutrient tank and flushed fresh water thought the system. we added an air stone to get some oxygen in the system. Any help be greatly appreciated. we do wash and clean all the channels after use with Hydrogen Peroxide. Don

Hi Don, Glad you are watching the videos and supporting the channel... Thank you. No, I don't use hydrogen peroxide when I clean my channels. I use a light solution of bleach. There are so many reasons for brown roots. Was the water cold after you flushed out your nutrient tank? Are your other plants showing brown roots. Look close at roots do you see any very small worms. (fungus knat larvae) I use a product called Zerotol in my solution when I see anything weird. Most cases it will solve the problem. Its great stuff. biosafesystems.com/product/zerotol-2/
