Working on building a pen for my daughters 10 goats . It's 40' x 64 ' . Only thing different I did was to put the panels on the inside of the wood posts so that if they are jumping or standing on the fence , it's pushing into the post instead of the staples .

Them goats gonna be happy Dan. The pen looks very good. I can tell you always take your time on what you do. We used to have a 3 ac enclosure that we raised whitetail deer in. We had a rehab and ppl would bring them to use if they got hit or found a hurt one. We used the cattle panel and double stack it. One on top of the other to make it 7 ft high. That cattle panel is the way to go.
@HomeInTheSticks7 жыл бұрын

Just a tip~~ If you turn the bottom post that is holding the gate to the down position and loosen the top bracket so you can push it up and then lower it down on the top post and tighten it back up that gate cannot be lifted up and off the posts. Right now if they go to scratching and itching against the gate they can push it straight up and off the hinges and get out.
@HomeInTheSticks7 жыл бұрын
Good tip mam, I may have to look into this!! What I did do on my other pasture gates is drill a hole through the bracket and pin and added a cotter pin to locked the gate onto the pin, worked pretty good, kinda over kill but it worked!! Thanks for watching mam!! Dan

I love using panels. They are so versatile, the uses are multitude. That makes a great goat proof pen. Old Guy always calls those steeples, for some reason. I noticed that the cut ends of your panel on the gate are just sticking up there. Those things are sharp and I'm concerned that you might cut yourself on them. Good work!

Great job Dan! New subscriber and fellow southern boy here. My papaw taught me how to tamp our poles and they haven't moved in 35 years. I'm pretty new to goats though and my pygmy buck keeps escaping. Are these panels rigid enough that he won't squeeze under?
@HomeInTheSticks4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mr Colby, welcome to our community and the channel!! Yes sir, my dad and grandfather tamped their poles as well and I have some in the ground that haven't budged in 15 years over here!! As far as your buck, is he the only one in the paddock? I found that having 2 or 3 goats together will settle them down some as they are social animals. The cattle panel I've been using keeps my 2 bucks in the paddock with no problems as of yet, they brush up against it and stand up/lean on them daily. I also have T post every couple of feet behind the cattle panel as well. Hope this answers your question sir!! Thank ya for watching, have a good Wednesday!! Dan
@Liz-ww3cm4 жыл бұрын
I've had success filling that kind of gap with firewood rounds. Or longer pieces of logs. Depending on the animal and the situation, they might work best on the inside or outside, just wedged in or also attached to the fencing with u-nails... It's affordable!
