I have been calling it bubble tea for years and that is such an OG milk tea brand! Question though how do I know that the Boba won't stick together after boiling it for so long?
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Just keep stirring intermittently. You have to boil them for a long time...I did it a couple of more times and each time I boiled it for close to an hour. And yes they should be called Bubble tea. It was so hard for me to call it Boba, I kept getting confused haha
@Lxythix4 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t the boba harden when frozen?
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
You would have to boil them for a very long time. Up to an hour. I believe the pearls that are used from the store bought kind are actually made with rice flour, as they have a mochi like consistency.
@tdang26604 жыл бұрын
Use glutinous rice flour to make the boba instead. They stay chewy when frozen.

Omg my husband and I both LOVE boba ice cream. Definitely going to try this!
@Senhie4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use tapioca for this. It hardens when it freezes. Try mochi balls instead. And try brown sugar to coat the popsicle mold. The original is brown sugar popsicle 😅
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Yes the tapioca does harden but u can boil it for a very long time and it will soften up a bit even when frozen. The store bought ( I think) uses a mix of tapioca and rice flour. It’s more of a mochi texture for sure.

I'm so stupid, why did I buy ingredients to make my own ice cream when I can just buy already made vanilla ice cream. Would have saved time and money.

Shivangi Ranjan wonder why some people are calling it Boba? Maybe it’s an American thing?
@shivangiranjan80854 жыл бұрын
a yappie's kitchen Not sure honestly. I live in America and people call it all different type of things like tapioca tea (ikr it sounds to weird) boba and bubble tea. I think bubbly tea is the most common name though

Hi, quick question, what can I use instead of the milk tea powder? Thank you so much!
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
You can use regular black tea. Red rose/Lipton are all good brands.

Make sure to over boil the tapioca balls. I did it a couple of more times since the video and I started to cook them for closer to an hour. To make sure they are extra soft. If u don’t have time, then cut the tapioca balls in half to make them smaller. Otherwise they will be tough after frozen.
@celestwelch61434 жыл бұрын
I interchange between calling it bubble tea, boba tea, and pearl milk tea! Bubble tea is definitely my primary name to call it!! I can’t wait to make these:)
@wallace198609144 жыл бұрын
That’s so long to cook them. I cook mine for 5 minutes and there already super soft gummy texture. At 30 minutes i would of thought it would be to Mushy. I def wanna try this! Great video!
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Once u freeze them they will be rock hard. That’s why u have to overcook them so when you put it in the freezer it will be the right texture. The ones in the store bought is not a “true tapioca” I believe it’s made with rice flour to get that chewy consistency.
@flwr90134 жыл бұрын
But don’t the balls get hard in the ice cream bc the balls don’t freeze properly
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Thats why I recommended that you boil the tapioca for a long time. I started boiling it for an hour now. It’s not perfect but it helps. Alternatively you can make your own from scratch. If you do, you would have to add a bit of rice flour to modify the texture.

I just just 6 boxes from the Asian market. My daughter loves them. They were crazy expensive at $7.99 a box of four.

lucky! mine were $10.99 for one box and the limit was 2
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Wow 10.99? That’s nuts!
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s very expensive. But I admit it is good. But the alternative I made is not bad too. And much cheaper.

Yeah it’s an expensive habit! Glad that there’s this video rite?
@gelagsolis4 жыл бұрын
Is there a vegan alternative? :(
@YappieKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Yes girl, just use Vegan Ice cream. The bubbles/pearls are made from Tapioca flour which is from the cassava root. The only issue you might come across is that you will have to make your own tea instead of the packaged one I used (which contains milk powder). In this case you will have to boil black tea and reduce it for a long time. Your version might end up tasting better!
