It works even better in dutch. "Ben" means 'am', as in "Ik ben"= "I am". "Stil" means quiet or silent. So, "Ben Stiller" translates to "am quieter" You are quiet, but I am quieter (Jij bent stil, maar ik ben stiller)

Each country's shawerma is different, it's originally from turkey but Arabian countries have other versions Here in Syria shawerma consists of the chicken meat which is grilled for hours on low heat, pickles, and garlic mayo and that's it

Lionel Wilson chicken shawarma invludes chicken - pickles - fries - garlic sauce (simple and delicious and the chicken has an amazing flavor). The meat shawarma( not as popular as the chicken) includes meat -tomatoes -onions - cilantro - a white sauce (i have only tried it when i was really young so i cant remember)

This is some of the best work I’ve seen from Buzzfeed and Tasty. If you’re reading this I hope you guys now the outstanding role you’re playing in normalizing “refugees” to American cultural and removing the stigma from it. No protest or footage from overseas can instill the feeling in your average Joe the same way this video does. Refugees are just regular people who’ve moved just like so many other immigrants for better lives whether it’s in Sioux Falls or New York. I hope Buzzfeed can continue to replicate this work with other marginalized communities such as Latinos and African Americans to help unify society.

Thank you! Shawarma quickly became my favorite food while living in the UAE. Been looking for a good recipe ever since I moved back to the States. Shawarma is not available in west central Illinois, (though I've found a good place for it in St Louis) so I've been experimenting. Seems like recipes are just now starting to turn up on the internet - so thankful!

As a person that hasnt had chixken swarma i cant say i can relate to the nostalgic memories it brings but it does look a lot like a döner kebab wrap that brings me warm feelings. I wonder if theyre similar in sauce at least?

In India initially shawarma was not a big hit since it tasted bland to our spicy taste buds nowadays the spice is pretty amped up and some even add cheese to it

I'm familiar with shwarma from Israel. It's best in a lafa, with schug , and chips and tehina. Some have it with cucumber, pickles, and tomatoes. No dairy products in the kosher ones. Lamb melts in your mouth, but the chicken one is also good.
