Very good healthy recipe and explanation. I've never heard the tip about soaking the nuts. Thanks so much for posting!

A healthy recipe indeed. What do you do with your bars when you go on a multi day trip? How long do you keep them 'fresh'? I'm planning a two week trailrunning trip and would really like to take some homemade bars with me. Looking forward to your tips.

Hi Jon. To be honest I have never needed these for trips that long, so I am not really sure how they would hold up. But usually I vaccum seal each bar and I have never had any issues in hot climate for up to 7 days. Just kept out of sunlight and as cool as possible. Someimes I opt for a solution where I bring the ingredients and then make the bars on my way. But that is only on my kayak trips. Trailrunning you want to be light weight and with easy access to the calories. I am sure they will be fine in colder climates for 2 weeks at least.
