Thank you! Very happy with it overall. Next mod will be adding a turbo, it could use just a little bit more engine power at times. It has been a long journey to get to this point for sure. Lot of learning, trial and error. It needs cosmetic work, smooth up some edges and cleaned up and painted. Already dreaming of the next one, if I ever build another... will be running a 6 cylinder turbo diesel and a circle saw I think. I wanna go fast!

@@BigBlue12V You gonna use a 12 v cummins 5.9 ? That would pretty much cover your power needs I'd say. 48" saw blade would be an awesome project, that'd be stepping right up with the big boys.

@neilhaverly4117 thank you!! That was my entire goal.. it has been through several revisions and updates to make it what you see now. I've watched hundreds of hours of videos of about every brand produced and dozens if not more of homemade ones. Took my favorite features from each and put into this one. It's not perfect but I'm very happy with it.

@@BigBlue12V that is the same process I am applying. I worked with a fantastic guy that was in the Allegheny mountains who was the largest firewood supplier in the DC beltway area. He had a curved ramp built into the hillside, at the top the logs were dropped off. The cutters cut them off and then they would just roll down the ramp to the splitters and the delivery truck was under the ledge of the ramp and the split wood dropped in. Supposedly they were able to fill a trailer in about an hour or two.

Very well done! Were you able to run all of the hydraulic functions off of 1 pump? If that's the case, are you using a power beyond port out of the Prince valve to run the saw, conveyor, log deck, etc?

Thank you! It is a two section pump. One section is 15 gpm dedicated to the splitter. The other section is 7 gpm and runs everything else. The saw is direct drive via a clutch and belt.

Nice machine, it might help to have higher gpm's on your pump. The saw really pulls hard on the hydraulic system, but that is really an impressive machine!!!

Slick. I have plans on building a processor of a sort. I have built a fair few machines. Allen family firewood’s Ole Buster and our Orange crush are here on KZbin. Buster is billed as the fastest vertical splitter on KZbin.

@@HuckThis1971 alternative brand power sources have crossed my mind, however I believe reconfiguring the machine would be pretty difficult to accomodate a physically larger engine, cooling system, etc. Also, the hydraulic system size doesn't require any additional engine power currently, the only time it needs a slight boost is when cutting while retracting the splitter cylinder. Just a couple of extra ponies would put it in the sweet spot I believe, and a turbo addition should be much easier and more cost effective than trying to shoehorn a larger engine.

NIce job. it seems like the hydraulics on the saw may need some tuning. Was the conveyor a diy or home crafted ?

Thank you. The only hydraulics on the saw is the cylinder that feeds the saw. The saw is direct drive from the engine via a clutch and belts. The conveyor is a hytrol brand industrial conveyor, with the electric motor and gearbox removed and a hydro motor driving it via chain and sprocket.

@jwm6314 it might be good for mind and soul but it's hard on the body. This is used as a business tool, so productivity and reduced fatigue are number 1 priorities. Also get a lot of enjoyment using a machine i built that operates well.
