Dude. What is going on with this casserole? I’m 45 years old and I have eaten this for as long and never understood why people even made it. Now I’m going to make it every year for the rest of my life thanks to Tom. Thanks ATBBQ.

Made this per ATBBQ recipe (even prepped in my 95 yo Wapak Cast Iron Dutch Oven) for Thanksgiving. I should have taken a photo, It was the only thing I served that had absolutely zero leftovers. I was lucky to get a helping for myself. Totally worth it and pure awesomeness.

Just made this for our "friendsgiving" Saturday! Was delicious! I did skimp on the fresh green beans and used frozen, but just thawed them in cool water and allowed them to cook through in the oven. Came out GREAT and was not mushy at all.

Much better when scratch made. I don't like using canned soup for the base because of the sodium content. Great looking dish Chef Tom.

Thank you for this recipe. Your stuff is always amazing. I don't have and am not likely to order/receive Cattleman's Grill Trail Dust seasoning before Thanksgiving at this point. I have Cattleman's Grill California Tri-Tip Seasoning on hand, which I ordered from ATBBQ. Would that be a good substitute for the Trail Dust? Also, I might have indicated how a home cook could prepare this in their home oven for how long and at what temps. I'd guess same time, but at 350 degrees? Finally, even though I'm certain the homemade crispy onions would be far superior, I plan to cut the time by using some really great crispy onions from Trader Joe's. They are the most flavorful store-bought crispy onions I've ever tasted and seem like they would be fine. Anyway, thank you again for the recipe. I would love to hear from you about the California Tri Tip seasoning as a substitute for the Trail Dust. If not that, I also have on hand - bought from ATBBQ - R Butts R Smokin R Beef Rub if that would be a better substitute than the tri tip seasoning.

Tri-tip would work as well!

The written directions say to remove the bacon after cooking and place on paper towels, and then it never says to add it back in. As we're making Thanksgiving dinner and the casserole is all done, I just saw the plate of bacon sitting on the counter, never added to the casserole! Can you fix the written directions?

I like green beans. I like cream of mushroom soup. I DON'T like them together. Maybe the bacon would save it. The onions were spot on, though.
