@John Brier I've been wondering about that, thinking a strong rider of a pedal bike going up a steep hill, and standing up on the pedals, puts out quite a bit of torque; and never worries about the chain failing under those circumstances. (At least, I don't.) So the engine only applies the torque needed to move/accelerate the bike and rider, which wouldn't make us worry about the chain if the rider were applying the same force to the chain. Do the bicycle chains often fail under engine torque?
@georgelackey622 Жыл бұрын
@@stephenandloriyoung5716 So many things wrong with this build. A bicycle chain won't last long with the constant torque of the engine, and the gears won't either. Plus those sprockets can make it go way past anything safe and the derailleurs will disintegrate. Also you would have to use all the gears gradually to get up speed and the speed he clocked had no load, not realistic at all!
@Codbeast101 Жыл бұрын
@@georgelackey622 the sprocket should be on the rear wheel like all of these motors. If you can’t pull the clutch you are always in gear in essence.

Check your states rules. In Utah, the moment you change the motor drive to a multi gear setup it becomes a motorcycle. Same goes for removing the petals. That mean, a motorcycle license, insurance, and license plate. Now if you keep the petals, you can have the petal side be a multi gear, but the motor drive side must be a single speed to stay a bike.

These CAG engines are so superior to use on a motored bicycle! The re coil start and clutch make so much more sense.The only down side is the extremely poor mounting holes that just won't take much abuse and require rubber washers and very careful torque to avoid snapping chunks of the motor case with the bolts along with them. Lots of performance parts for these little screamers!

Yes I’m building one just now these engines are great to use once the carb has been charged and stronger clutch springs these engines also last a bit longer with the cooling shrouds extended I’ve had the 80 and 100cc engine kits you can buy to fit straight onto a bike in the past but the reliability of those engines are poor I’m keen to see how this engine holds up on my bike when it’s built
