In this video, I will show you how to make Mozzarella cheese at home with just 3 ingredients: milk, vinegar and salt. There're some notices:
Notice 1: There're 2 main reasons lead to bad result:
- Use the wrong milk (UHT milk for example)
- Over-boil the milk, over 45°C, it will break the coagulated milk. If you don't have a thermometer, you can use your fingers. Put your finger, you can feel it's getting warm but it won't burn.
If you make this mistake, you can change it to make cream cheese. Here's how you do it:

Notice 2: The kneading step in water is pretty important to get a soft and smooth. You need to boil water to the right temperature. You can use gloves to knead if needed.
Notice 3: Normally when making Mozzarella, people often use rennet, which is an enzyme in the cow's stomach to help coagulate milk. If using rennet, add it after the acid (which is vinegar). After the milk forms in to curd, I will use a knife to cut into smaller pieces.
Finally, if you can easily buy mozzarella, which I think it won't be cheaper. Maybe it costs less than fresh mozzarella bought at supermakets (the white one soaked in water not dried one). Anyway, I hope this video will encourage you to make mozzarella at home ^^.
