I like these "home-made" videos more. They are more down to earth, and show that even though we don't have all the ingredients at home, it's fine. Life goes on, and there are other things to worry about. Tomorrow I'll definitely make some tomato soup! Thx!

Emily Swanson ooh! Can you recommend a recipe for no knead bread? Have had to many damn hand/wrist surgeries.. so kneading is always a no go for me... just been using my trusty dough hook! Haha

Gracie Max sure! I actually really like the one from King Arthur flour. It makes a big batch that sits in the fridge all week. All the way down on the bottom they have a link to cooking the recipe in a Dutch oven. So I use the recipe on this page but the cooking instructions on the other: Recipe: www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/no-knead-crusty-white-bread-recipe Baking instructions: www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/2017/02/21/bread-baking-dutch-oven

This video of sarah actually makes me realize how much i have grown because of her. I've been following everyday food by sarah carey series since 7 years ago. Can you imagine 7 full years of watching her. I was just a 12 years old girl who loves to cook (and of course, to eat hahaha) when i first watched her. And of course my mom is not enjoying her kitchen becoming a disaster since i tried lot of lots of her recipes. But she inspired me so much, and watching her since then makes me realize my passion. Now i'm in my 3rd year on my culinary institute, and i'm getting closer to graduation. Can you imagine starting from a 12 years old girl now i'm already on my last semester on university. But anyway, Sarah, if you're reading this, i wanted to tell you how grateful i am for everything you've shared. Thankyou for always throwing love when ever you're cooking. I would be a totally different person if i didn't get the chance to watch your videos back then. You're such a big inspiration. And of course i'm not crying while I'm typing this out (-yes, i did). I love you, Sarah. You're more than a wonderful person. I don't know how many times should i thank you. I'm utterly grateful. A fan of 7 years from Indonesia💕

I made this gluten-free and vegan! I made it the regular way and it was so yummy! I then challenged myself to make it GFV. I omitted the butter, using 4 tbsp. total of olive oil. I then replaced the flour with 1/2 tsp. xantham gum. It worked PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Obviously, I used veg broth)
@eblake36174 жыл бұрын
I also used canned diced tomatoes because that's all I had and just cooked them longer, unil I could easily squish them with the back of my spoon

If you pour half the broth in & next the tomatoes & then use the rest of the broth to rinse the can, you will NOT be wasteful. ~~~ I make my homemade tomato soup pretty much as you did yours; however, I do NOT add salt & I find the addition of a cup of sour cream & a pinch of dried thyme give a lovely extra delight to the taste. Next time I'll forgo the thyme & add some basil to see how we like it. Thank you!

Calcium chloride in canned tomatoes causes them to be firmer and keeps them from breaking down. Since diced are smaller pieces they absorb more of it .
@lesliesaraiva72704 жыл бұрын
They also add citric something to diced tomatoes to make them retain the diced shape and not break down.

regarding the tomatoes.. it might be worth mentioning... check the sodium content. they vary hugely. the italian versions are generally much less sodium than american counter parts. i find them to range between 10 - 40 mg per serving. american canned tomatoes tend to be in the 120mg PLUS. and they often have that nasty calcium chloride added..... something i do not want in my body.

Diced tomatoes are not underripe. The packers add calcium chloride, which strengthens the pectin, to help them hold their shape.

I like people who keeps using their kitchen tools/cookware even when they show how much they have been used, if that makes sense... instead of replacing stuff just because they have a stubborn spot. suggestion... make sure there is no nasty calcium chloride in the tomatoes. I notice that most american canned tomatoes use it... italian san marzano do not.
@mrtodd36204 жыл бұрын
I made this recipe today, and while it is tasty, it has a bit of mucousy mouth feel. I don't know how I will fix it. Maybe add some thick cream or even some sour cream. I think the reason for the mouth feel issue is that in this recipe the flour is thickening what is essentially water, while in a typical sauce you would use flour to thicken a dairy product.
