Homemade Waste Oil Burner

Homemade waste oil burner made from a wood stove. I used 1" black iron pipe for the air inlet and 3/8 copper for the oil drip line. The blower is a Coleman air mattress pump but I will be installing a more permanent blower soon. I will say although the design is incredibly simple there are a few things that have to be exact for it to work, you must angle the end of your air pipe so the air swirls with the oil vapors to give a clean and hot burn, also the oil tube must be flush or protrude slightly from the air pipe so that when the air is on you get a solid drizzle of oil from the tube, you don't want it to vaporize until its in the bowl. Heat is your friend, if the bowl stays hot you will have a good flame that's why you use kerosene to start it. sorry to bore you, just want to pass on what I learned.

Does the stainless steel pot burn out after a while? I used a plate steel box and it burned holes through it after a month or so.

The stainless is much better in high heat cycle conditions, i have run this for four years now and am just now needing to replace the pot... $3 at tractor supply

Nice, how do you connect the copper tubing to the black pipe Tee, keeping a air seal while continuing with the copper pipe thru the rest of the black pipe?

I used a compression fitting that i drilled through so the copper would go through it and used a reducer to go from the tee to the fitting

Get rid of the air pump, you shouldn't need it, draw the air through with a natural draft from under the burn pot.

Steve Lindsay without the air pump the oil dose not vaporize properly and will not burn clean. Having spent a lot of time on research and testing trust me when i say it is completely necessary to force air into the burn chamber... the oil is not pressurised so the air must be

that burned out very quickly... I ended up going with a dayton draft blower meant for a furnace, about 50cfm. Runs on 120v, you can get them on ebay for about $60

you need a better way to meter your oil. Right now you have no real idea how much oil you are putting to it.
