This was excellent, Emily! Never have I thought of using a glue stick! I will be using it now!

Thank you! It’s a little trick I learned at Quilt Con and in my opinion it’s a lot quicker & easier than using pins!

My first quilt top from 2006, is using the drunkard's path quilt block. I lived in a small town so I had to make my own template from the pattern in the quilt book. I wish I had accuquilt for that block. I used so much starch to make sure my curves were curved. I am giggling at my ambitious younger self and hoping I can actually finish my quilt with this top soon!

I’m lucky I bought the classic companion qube before it was discontinued. I have the 6, 8, 9, and 12 inch versions (due to an inheritance I was able to buy them the corresponding original qubes, my GO, and several other dies all at once. I was struggling at the time with sight issues due to what I thought were side effects from essential meds, then after that course of meds was finished and my eyes didn’t “bounce back” as they had on previous cycles I thought new specs would fix the problem... unfortunately it turned out a rare disease meant my immune system was silently destroying my retinas and 9 months after buying my GO and all my dies I was told I was legally blind. A year later after relearning all my essential life skills and teaching some young friends simple sewing skills I cut a load of cheap and “found” fabric with my 12 inch mix and match Qube and learned to sew them accurately using an old store card stuck to my machine bed. Now I’m confident using all my Qubes it’s time to try my Drunkards Path dies. Thank you for the inspiration.

Hi Lynne! Thanks for sharing! I’m so glad this can inspire you to keep sewing & trying new challenges! I also struggle with immune system issues and I know how tough it can be to feel your body working against you... wishing you all the best! It sounds like you’re really doing well despite the challenges ❤️

@@HomemadeEmilyJane it certainly sucks when your immune system thinks you’re a germ to destroy 😉

Well now I am inspired to try the drunkards path! It’s a classic. Do you know if the AccuQuilt die is layer cake or charm pack friendly?
@HomemadeEmilyJane3 жыл бұрын
Yes! The 4” Drunkard’s Path Die would work with precuts as small as a 5” square!
@lynnenicholson69683 жыл бұрын
The die Emily is using is on a 10 inch board so you could cut up to 6 layers using a layer cake to get 12 blocks
