I'll talk to a customer all day, but I'm not there to prove I'm a good tech. "My AC works at home" is the line we're collectively allowed to say to a really shitty customer. One poor woman hassled me every 4 minutes. I handle each helicopter differently, sometimes I talk their ear off until they leave, troubleshoot aloud, explain exactly what I’m doing using the most complex language and made up words as I can. What I find works best with the ones that just wanna help is give them a job to do. Hold the camera or flashlight, take a ir thermometer gun and go check the temp at each vent or ask them to watch the thermostat and let me know if it turns off. 😂 Only once had I needed to be firm and slightly rude.
