In our lives we all have our “Mindys” who on paper seem perfect, they’re attractive and have the same hobbies, and then our “Marges” who may contrast to us in certain ways, but complement us in the ways that we need to, and have the essential character and integrity for true and meaningful love, beyond superficial attraction and shared interests.
@lucasmartinez57033 жыл бұрын
I agree with this, but there's nothing that says that the "Mindys" in people's lives can't love and understand you in ways that "Marges" can. If you watch the episode, the flashback shows that they would have been happy with each other and Marge would have lived a better life. If Homer had met Mindy first, there's nothing that says he would have been unhappy with her.

And that's why I loved Mindy when she told him he didn't have to even after kind of admitting she would have liked to have sex with him too. And that he had a choice. Homer kissing her was probably the closest he has ever gotten to actually cheating to this day and that to me really shows just how much he liked Mindy. I'm sad things got too awkward between them. I think she could have been a good lady friend for him to hang out with, but Marge would probably get jealous (and she evidently can get nasty about it).

Abandon true love and the happiness? Time and time again, it's shown how dysfunctional their family is. Homer should have bit the bullet and filed for a divorce. It's better to suck for a bit and be happy after than to have it suck for the rest of your life. Don't let the idea of marriage be your shackle, folks. If you're unhappy with it and nothing you've tried has worked, it's completely fine to get a divorce.

One of the great things about the Simpsons, which i didn’t realize until i got older, is that they do an amazing job at making the characters lovable but also giving them their own bad traits. Which of course gives a more complete view of their humanity. Homer is funny and caring, but can really lack impulse control. Marge can be a sweet mother, but also a controlling and overbearing one at times. Bart can be free-spirited and fun, but also mean and mischievous. Lisa can be sweet as well, but she can also be insanely condescending and obnoxious.

He literally refused to have sex (and wasn't happy with the idea of it) with her and decided to do it with Marge instead. If that's not a faithful husband to you, then I don't know what the hell is. Also, yes, people in relationships can still potentially fall in-love with other people, but there are 3 ways to take this situation, with 2 of those angles being recommended. 1 is by staying loyal to the one you first fell in-love with and still currently love (which is Homer's case), cheat like a dog because you like the other more but keep it secluded from your original love, or just plain ignore it. This is where the faithful part of a healthy relationship comes into play, Homer being the faithful husband he is stuck with Marge, even with how disgusting she looked when she was sick in the episode.

@@Ronin.Samurai Pardon? It's normal to love multiple people. I mean, I doubt you've only had at least 1 crush in your entire life. What's not normal is to date multiple people. It's actually not easy to control emotions, if it was then people wouldn't be committing suicide every single day. Please explain how it's easy to control emotions, because by saying something as dead-wrong as that makes you sound like someone who's never had the guts to take risks or do anything special in their life. He did it willing? I can't tell if you're retarded or if you haven't seen the episode. Almost NOTHING he did was by his will. He wanted space from her, he indirectly discovered he had a lot in common with her, he was cautious around her, he made it his goal to try to not see her for the rest of the time they worked there, he ACCIDENTALLY kissed her, he was against the idea of having sex, etc. Everything he did that was flirtatious was accidental, like being forced to ride the elevator with her, being sent on a vacation with her, trying to suggest they had nothing in common during lunch, etc. How don't you see this?! How are you so blind that you cannot see that almost everything Homer did was against his will in this episode?! I legit cannot believe you. On the contraire, you are dead wrong. You understand NOTHING about this episode, and you're not half as understanding of love as you THINK you are. The fact that me, someone who hasn't been kissed by a girl once in his entire life and has never dated someone and has been rejected by every girl I've had the guts to ask-out, understands love more than you do is scary and pathetic.

Rōnin Samurai there is love and there is attraction/enchantment. You can love your wife but as sexual creatures, we are always looking for potential mates. Biology urges people to capitalize on our opportunities. All that being said, homer did everything a reasonable honest man could do to avoid his urges BECAUSE Marge was the love of his life. it didn't broke my heart but yeah I also understood the lesson as a kid. and there was also a saying when I was a child. don't go out or marry people that are like mirror or just share ALOT of things you got in common. and some shippers still don't understand that when it comes to cartoon and anime. always go with people that well make you whole. but that's what makes love life hard. to some is easy and some is ether hard or longer to have.

If it were the Simpson’s of today, homer wouldn’t even have thought twice about cheating on Marge, that’s how far his character has regressed over the years. Here, he resents himself for even just desiring another woman and ultimately does the right thing in spite of that. God I hate modern Simpson’s.

I love this episode. This episode really shows how much Homer loves his family despite mindy being a complete bombshell and having the same interests as Homer he was extremely reluctant to have feelings for her because he is spoken for with Marge. he tries to stop thinking about Mindy and trying to talk to his friends and Ned, but the universe keeps reminding him that she is her kindred spirit and that he fell for another woman. Homer tries and fails to avoid Mindy, but it eventually leads to them about to have sex and give into temptation but in one of the most emotional scenes, Homer beings crying and tell Mindy why they can't be together Mindy understands and lets him return to Marge. Truly one of the sweetest episodes that shows the simpsons at their finest with both comedy and drama a dromady. ❤️

I think Mindy was just a figment of Homer's imagination. A metaphorical temptress created by Homer to represent the desire for freedom. He looks to Mindy and sees unrealistic perfection, then he looks back at Marge and sees an attachment that he is unable to escape from. He tries his best to ignore this desire but it keeps getting worse and worse. In the end, he is faced with a choice. He has to decide if he wants to leave Marge in the pursuit of freedom, or stay binded to her for the rest of his life. When he asks himself what his heart truly desires, he realises that his love for Marge is much stronger than his desire for a new life. This is why at the end of the episode, Mindy and Marge both have the same colour dress. He comes to truly appreciate that Marge has always been the thing he desires the most.

what are you talking about...he didnt remain loyal..he shagged mindy. you have to look at the scene carefully , homer envisions Mindy as Marge to justify his infidelity. This is reinforced by her red dress and her bringing up the turkey. marge doesnt care for food like that..mindy does. its mindy talking about the turkey , shes in a red dress...Homer is just envisioning marge, but its mindy. at the end of the episode, homer sings a song about the turkey...marge had no idea of it..if it was her..she wouldve agreed...thus means it was mindy the whole time.
