Homer's been out on his own and is unkempt and famished, and we all know that it's very hard to focus on anything other than food when you're that hungry. @@majorpwner241 they shortened the intro, which was riddled with quick, clever jokes, to make time for the really long couch gags at the end that, while sometimes good, often overstay their welcome. never understood that. The modern intro literally skips straight from the sky to homer getting plowed through the garage door.

You're taking something that an audience has built eight years or nine years of investment in and just tossed it in the trash can for no good reason, for a story we've done before with other characters. It's so arbitrary and gratuitous, and it's disrespectful to the audience."
