I do not own any of the content of this video. The Simpsons is owned by Matt Groening. This is in my opinion the smartest/best advice that Homer Simpson has ever given from the Eenie Meenie Maya Moe Episode on Season 20.

Homer's a very flawed person, has a bad habit of making stupid, selfish decisions...but at the end of the day he'll always do what's best for his family and those around him, no matter how it inconveniences him. Perhaps one of my favorite examples is the episode where he gets recruited to work for Scorpio. For the first time, he has a job he actually enjoys, is paid well, and his new boss actually values him and his opinions. However, once he sees just how miserable his family is with their new life, he ultimately chooses to give up his happiness for their old life back in Springfield. This is a pretty big sacrifice on his part, especially since Marge even told him it was his decision in the end. He wasn't obligated to do this, but he did so anyways, proving that he does have a heart.

Everyone always talks about how lucky Homer is to have Marge. I have watched every season and episode and I have to say after everything it really is the other way around. Homer is a gentle spirit and his kindness and humanity are all but unparalleled he is one of the greatest characters ever written. I genuinely LOVE Homer Simpson like a real person. Other examples of his emotional depth are the episode life on the fast lane with his quote using how Marge makes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in a metaphor for not keeping feelings bottled up. Also kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKWyk5-raLKjapo. Again Homer is a gentle spirit and his capacity for love and tenderness is what makes him truly truly beautiful.

It's been years since watching the show as heavily as I used to. My favorite line of his was when he stuck up for Flanders as the church turned on him for plot reasons. Homer ended his case saying that if people were more like Ned, they "wouldn't need to go to heaven. We'd already be there." This moment, even without full context, comes pretty close for how relatable it's been :)

This one's good! I also like Homer's scene with Lisa in S2 E19 "Lisa's Substitute". After carelessly declaring disinterest in Lisa's beloved substitute teacher finishing his contract and moving away, she calls him a baboon, and runs up to her room. After Marge scolds him, he finds her, thinks it through, accidentally sits on her Malibu Stacy doll house, and starts to deliver this gem: "Now, you lost someone special to you, and that hurts. I'm lucky, 'cause I never lost anyone important to me. Everyone special to me is right under this roof!" *Lisa moans, miserable* "It's true! Now, you'll have lots of special people in your life, Lisa. There's probably some place where they'll all get together, and the food is really good, and guys like me are serving drinks." *Homer sighs* "Oh, well, maybe I can't explain all this, but I can fix this doll house, for ya. At least I'm good at doin'... monkey work." *Homer starts to smile, Lisa starts to soften and chuckle* "I can hold the nails in place with my tail!" *Lisa starts to laugh louder, Homer acts like a monkey* "Gimme a banana!" "I don't have any bananas!" "Come on! You're holdin' out on me!" *both laugh and reconcile :)* All this right here, is early Homer in his prime. He makes no pretense at being more than what he is, but he makes do and makes sure it's enough to come through clutch and keep the family afloat.
