We have some of the same traditions! We also decorate the night before. We also do a birthday banner (wrapping paper with their age and a sweet saying on it that rhymes with how old they are that year!) across their door that they burst through in the morning to “start” their birthday!

I think that was a great bday. You're an amazing mom! I understand you being so tired. I know a busy lady like you and she Takes time while kids are napping or resting to use for her a rest time also. It helps her to have energy for afternoons and nights for all she still has to do. I love that idea.

This is lovely thank you for sharing. Im a mom to 8, and I also would go way overboard on birthdays and yes, we would have a birthday week if the day of the week wasn't right for a party. Now that my oldest is 22 and my baby is 7 I have learned to chill out and we now usually do a birthday outing with just our family . love your backpack baby.

Hello Justine, thank you for sharing your birthday traditions. We too celebrate our kids birthday the simple way. Only that I make like 2 gatherings everytime for my husband's side and mine because we tried in the past to make a joint one, but it was a stress on our part and we don't like that we can't have goodconversations with a lot of people. And also give few gifts to our kids, and always tell the people invited to not brings gifts, others listen, but others don't. We once attended a lavish birthday for a 7 year old(it was like a debut level) and my husband didn't get why they had a celebration like that.

To have a flat top on the cake you can turn the cake upside down…and the weight will often flatten out the bottom/top
