I've been married 30y years today.. we had a season with an immaculate home. Pristine 24 hours a day. It was empty quiet and soulless. We were finally blessed with children. Our home came alive. Messy busy noisy. I would never give that up to have had a lifetime of neatness. A family home should look feel and sound like life is happening inside it.

Ministering is serving. It is not necessarily preaching only. Ministers serve, therefore, homemaking is ministering to our families.

I truly wish i had heard this earlier. I have homeschooled for the last 5 years, and couldn't cope anymore so put my children in school. But now struggle with the worry of how this will impact them... all because of overwhelm, and stress because of all the mess and everything i needed to do and how necissary it felt to do them all as soon as possible... Thank you.

Homemaking is an honorable role. Reading proverbs 31 you clearly get the sense of tespect the writer has for the woman written about.

Just found your channel - very inspiring. Family of 6 here, and I struggle with homemaking greatly... The garlic tops you were pickling with are garlic bulbils. You can actually plant those and they will grow into the larger singular bulb the first year. Harvest them in the early summer, but then plant them again the next fall, and they'll grow into the cloves you're used to harvesting. It's a great way to save money on buying garlic cloves to plant each year. Perpetual supply!

Your words have truly inspired me. “The devil would love nothing more than to convince us that the work we are doing is a waste of time… hang on… there are some really big rewards coming…” I’ve been a homemaker for 25 years, since I was 17, and now I’m battling chronic illness, so I struggle keeping up with homemaking. Basically, we are now empty nesters. My husband provides and cares for me, and I try to do the same for him, but I am so tired, burnt out and sick most of the time. Your honest words help me to keep my eye on the prize and keep going, serving the Lord in serving my husband and family. ❤ Thank you!

Hello Shayla, what a lovely video, in word and sight. Homemaking IS an honorable profession and so glad you voiced and showed just that! When I was a homemaker with children in the home, I took it seriously and believe my two children benefited greatly from it. Thank you again for your ministry of KZbin to us all.

The verse from proverbs About the oxen has been one of my favourite over the years as I view the work the Lord has me do…. My husband also reminds me of it when it feels like the work that we are attempting feels so “messy”. He says, Katie, it is supposed to get messy if we are working! So true!!! A mess is usually a sign that work is being done. Thanks for your video ♥️ ♥️From Australia, Kb

Hi Shayla ❤️ I wanted to tell you that finding your channel has been such a comfort to me - I have a few amazing fellow homeschool moms in my circle but we’re all moms of littles just trying to navigate the muddy waters. Watching you is like having coffee with the seasoned veteran homeschool mama friend I so wish I had in my circle. Thank you! In addition, you lead me to realize I’ve probably had adhd my entire life and that’s why some things are so dang hard no matter what I try or do, and my eldest I’m confident has it as well. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your experience and bringing awareness to a topic that is rarely talked about! All the love from a wisconsin homestead mama of 5. ❤️ Oh, and the fact that you’re a bible-believing Christian absolutely is the cherry on top. Yay Jesus. ❤️ bless you dear!

This video came a such a great time. I am knee deep in planning for our new homeschool year. We will be starting in a couple of weeks and our home is full of messes everywhere. I am taking up our dinning room with stacks of books, papers, and all those kinds of things. I have my children making food, forts, jewelry, playing with play dough, all of the outdoor things coming in and its just a great reminder that this is all part of the home. Choosing to stat home means that we see all of this and work with it, around it, and sometimes over top of it. I enjoy seeing you be creative in the kitchen as usual. For me playing in the kitchen to do every day things and try new things really helps fuel my heart and family. Its good to see you.

Hi, Shayla! I hope you’re recovering from that cold; we’ve had one go through the household over the last week, and of course I was the last to get it! lol. I really appreciated your wise encouragement; I’ve been homemaking for 15 years, and still need to hear and be reminded of these things! ❤

Hello, I hope all is well. I just discovered your channel. It’s such a blessing when I find channels of those who are disciples of Jesus. Thank you for sharing! I have a few questions: what soil, fertilizer, compost do you all use for gardening? And what all tools would you recommend for a beginner gardener? And how do you keep your glass jar lids rust free?
@mountainmamashome
@mountainmamashome Жыл бұрын
Hello! Thank you for the kind words! We use compost and composted manure, plus we got our soil tested so we would know exactly what it needed. As for tools I have a link to my Amazon garden store with products we have and love for our garden. Here it is amzn.to/47q3hj2 As for the jar lids, I don't put them in the dishwasher very often and that helps. Eventually they do rust though and I just replace them.

Awww cute puppies! This is the first I have seen huckleberries! As far as I know, it is not native where I live. Your home looks so nice! I felt I was not valued as a homemaker for a long time. Once I got a job a bit over a couple of years ago and worked for nearly two years, my family definitely appreciated me and saw how much I had been doing in the home (and continued to try to do while working full time but went to part time before quitting so I can just stay at home doing what I was doing for so long haha). You are a great mom and wife, from what I see. I am glad you have your kids help you out best you can. I think when I went to get my job is when I also had a sort of midlife crisis, but not really. It was a weird time though for sure. I love that you have goals. I love making goals, and those are the best goals to have (to love God and your family). Keep working hard. I'm cheering you on.
