I honestly hope they never stop. Digital Homicide is like the Steam equivalent of those crappy plastic Chinese "consoles". Aww Jim, you missed the best part of the MGS5 FOB protection scam. When the game launched they kept telling us you never had to go online. Well that changed on Tuesday last week when the patch dropped, not only is it MANDATORY to have an FOB to progress through the story past a certain point, but it also automatically puts 80% of your resources on the FOB and you CAN'T UNDO THAT. Better yet, the online section is riddled with cheaters, wallhackers and noclippers. They'll just fly into your base when you aren't online and ransack it. It's gotten so bad the best course of action is to do nothing with your FOB defenses wise, so you lose less when it's raided. And it will be raided. Yet again, a game has been fucked up so bad pirates get the better deal.

Don't you have to fill out tax forms to sell games on Steam? You'd think Valve would see them putting the same names and social security numbers on forms and would say, "hey, why are you trying to open multiple accounts? Are you trying to rip people off without them knowing who you are?"
@Mustang4249 жыл бұрын
+Dr Shaym No. Steam probably allows numerous DBA shells onto their service willingly. For example, let's say I am an developer who wants to make FPS Horror games and Children's Educational games. Two clearly different genres that a developer would want to have two clearly different company names for even if the staff is all the same. Normally, only larger devs/publishers would take advantage of that feature, but digital homicide is probably the most active burst sewage pipe on steam.

@EsteemedReptile8 жыл бұрын
@ john reeseie Well, the case against Valve and the Steam users is officially binned. According to Romine the case had to be dropped because the removal of his games from the Steam storefront put him in such dire financial straits that he could not afford to keep paying the necessary legal fees. His reasons may very well be true, but we all know that DigiHom isn't exactly swimming in sales and the case itself is an absurd joke, so in all likelihood the motion to dismiss would have gone through whether Romine could afford to pay the fees or not, so his reasons are probably caked in the same victimizing bullshit he slathers onto everything he says. As to Digihom V Stanton, there is no 'official' statement from either parties just yet as the case is still waiting to resolve a motion to dismiss. Given DigiHoms case against Valve got chucked with what is essentially the same motion, one can reasonably assume the same thing is about to happen with their case against Jim, as the Valve case will only give Jim more ammo (as if he needed it). If they can't afford to pay for one case, I seriously doubt they can afford to pay for another for any longer than what it will take for the motion to dismiss to be resolved. James Romine has already stated that "Digital Homicide is destroyed" so I think it's pretty clear cut at this point. Basically, they are in their death throes right now, so keep an ear to the ground and we'll probably see it all concluded by the end of the month. Good riddance.
@or10nsharkfin Жыл бұрын
8:00 It was James Romine. James Romine was the lawyer that wanted to sue for defamation and was simultaneously on-board with the plan. The same James Romine that wanted compensation for having to learn law so he didn’t have to pay a lawyer. This makes perfect sense given what we learned from the conclusion video.

@EmpressTiffanyOfBrittany9 жыл бұрын
+Jessamine Haak Actually, you're not far off. A very prevalent and highly important activity between Italian-American gangsters was the "sit-down." It was rather informal, considering what they usually talked about during them, but it is why the Mafia was so effective and so sturdy for so many years in America and elsewhere in the world. A sit-down is a quasi-formal gathering of gangsters to discuss business, among other things. Sit-downs were essential to the operations of the Mafia because it was a very effective way to conduct diplomacy, which was also essential. The gangsters would set up a meeting that could be easily re-scheduled, so that there was no pressure felt to attend a sit-down. The gangsters would meet up in a place that was comfortable but not necessarily public, though if business was minor, they usually just went to a restaurant or a bar, unless the business was very serious or liable to get emotional. Once there, they'd make themselves very comfy, hence the term "sit-down", because an essential part of a good sit-down is that you're comfy, so the chairs have to be great. And then they would have an informal round-table about business, where issues would then come up in between casual chatting, jokes, maybe even some feels if the gangsters know each other well enough. Usually, through sit-downs, gangsters would avoid anything rash having to be done, such as an execution, or needing to deal with the police, which organized criminals really hate doing, since they feel that they can police themselves, and cooperating with cops makes you a rat either way, even if you're in the right. Business being talked about in such a casual environment promotes camaraderie, peace and logic, which was preferable to the stereotype of gangsters as solving a lot of their problems through violence, which is messy, difficult to hide, and brings attention from the authorities. It's really not talked about in a lot of gangster movies because it can be rather boring, but it's really how the real Mafia operated. Hence why for a long time people didn't even think it existed. So, yeah, there's more similarities between Digital Suicide and organized crime than you think.

Proof positive once again of what we all knew as soon as the news broke that MGS5 would have microtransactions...the game was designed around making the FOB system critical to your gameplay and as willfully non-optional as any microtransaction system I've ever seen in a Free-to-Start game. All the more galling to me is the fact that I was one of those idiotic suckers who shelled out £100 for the woeful disappointment that was the Collectors Edition, making these microtransactions and cap-in-hand horse armour DLC items all the more offensive, all the more galling. I've had alot of good times with MGS5, no doubt and have clocked 280+ hours into it, so I can't complain that I haven't had my moneys worth, but it saddens me that a game that had the potential to be a truly incredible classic that I think really could have been a contender for 'Game of the Ever' is almost completely ruined by its unfinished story, horrific portrayal of Quiet (A character who could have been great, but instead is an insulting 'trophy' for the player to gawk at, with all the characterisation, exposition and genuine care of a discarded crisp packet.) and rushed final missions. (Mission 45 is one of the worst missions I've ever played in any game.) Fuck Konami, because somehow, amazingly, like a shit covered Phoenix rising from a steaming, smoking pile of burnt D-Horse manure, they always manage to get us talking about them, always drawing attention. They say no publicity is bad publicity, but whoever coined that phrase obviously didn't see Konami coming...a company that actively, deliberately alienate their fanbases and shit all over their own customers for reasons that are never clear or understandable. Absolute pile of wankers.

So at this point, DH is suing Jim Sterling for $15 million, wants to sue 100 Steam users for $18 million, Valve has removed all their games from Steam, and they want to sue Valve?!? Like, seriously Digi Hom, how deep are you going with this?!?
@nil5258 жыл бұрын
Maybe they're convinced if they sue enough people, at some point SOME money will come their way. I still crack up remembering when they tried to crowdfund their legal campaign and had people donating minuscule amounts in things like Liberian shillings, which cost them, rather than made them money. I think they've got like $425 of the 75k or something needed to retain that lawyer. What's astonishing to me is that a judge granted their subpoena to effectively dox the Steam uses who "personally injured" them. They're basically the real life version of Scott the Canadian from South Park; consummate dicks who don't know when to give it up. Except Scott had some good points at times, whereas these dickheads don't.
@Klishar1228 жыл бұрын
Little something else about that subpoena: turns out when they submitted it to Valve, it wasn't signed by a judge. So not only are they trying to use the legal system to attack people, they're demonstrating a woeful misunderstanding of the legal system. And all of this without a lawyer to speak of.
