Looking at this, years later, it still stands as the best police drama ever. Munch killed Pratt. He was able to just live with it. Just like Meldrick taking down Georgia Rae Mahoney's crew. Bayliss couldn't live with it, he needed Frank's forgiveness.

@@mellotron_scratch He's the central character of the series. Fontana was on a podcast ("Homicide: Life on the Set") earlier this year and said that his vision of Bayliss from very early on (if not the absolute beginning) was that Bayliss would go from the idealistic/by-the-book cop to executioner (perhaps in the early seasons, he becomes convinced who killed Adena?)... they just needed to pace out the arc from year to year based on whether the show was renewed or not. Kellerman's arc was kind of a speed-run of the Bayliss arc.

In a series loaded with powerful moments, this scene was a fitting end to the series. Despite his personal pain in turning in his friend, Frank is compelled to remain true to his beliefs. Without forgiving Tim, he carries his anguish and does the right thing.

Andre Braugher was such an amazing actor. Pembleton could have been such a dull one note character because of his rigid code but he played him with so many layers. This scene exemplifies how rich of a character he was. He cycles through so many emotions so quickly but in the end he is who he is. Doesn't matter that he retired or how much he loves Tim. The scene that sums him up the best was after he takes Tim in and he is talking to Gs son. He comments about Frank catching the bad guy and Frank replies that he caught a couple of them. Tim was his friend and his brother but now he was a just another bad guy after crossing the line.

I was young when this show started..so powerful to me it made a impact on my life...I wood tell my friends about it..and they never tried to get in to it or just didn't want to..it's a TV show yes ..but I made a decision to catch every show on VHS..and watch till the next. I still have them now along with the commercials of the time that reminds me of the decisions I made in my life to stay away from people that were on the show that I was actually surrounded by in my life...

@youtubed, spanglehoff - Blue meant a *solved* case from a previous year. Frank alludes to catching "two bad guys", meaning Gee's assassin and Tim. Though, true to form, Homicide leaves the true impact of the latter on Frank unresolved. The tragic irony is that Frank's impetus for leaving the force was his horror as a result of Tim almost dying through protecting him, yet without Frank's presence as a guide, Tim slowly lost his moral compass and forfeit his future anyway.
@Brandy-yn5vt Жыл бұрын
blue meant cold case not being actively investigated it’s in the first season when Gee shows off the squad room…the actual script for the movie does not even indicate Tim being turned in either. Now, there are two other indicators but not officially part of the show Munch says on SVU that a partner killed himself. There were other who killed themselves in HLOTS but only Lewis was ever shown as a partner to Munch. However, Fontana supposedly said at an event when asked about Bayliss that is he is rotting in prison. So there is no definitive answer it’s a lady or the river question for the viewer to answer.

I read it (and Frank's later statement that he'd caught two "bad guys" later) that Frank turned Tim in at his request - Tim wrote it up on the board and let the chips fall where they may. The empty chair in the squadroom left the question open as to whether Tim Bayliss could live with what he'd done
@leeving29997 жыл бұрын
turricaned Munch was parters with Bayliss on the show . When Munch was on SVU in season 3 he says a partner from Baltimore committed suicide . I will always believe it was Bayliss because of the 4th chair . Bayliss was such a mess the last season and in the movie it seemed ovbious that he would .

Heh, yeah, that was the Homicide way, wasn't it? More often than not they didn't reveal the killer or important information to the audience. Part of the reason why I loved the show. Do you think Munch killed Pratt? That's always an issue debated between H: LOTS fans I've noticed. Quite interesting too...I wonder if his character ever mentions it on SVU.

I found it strange how Frank is so perplexed at the notion of Bayliss killing someone, when he was present when Bayliss put about a half dozen rounds into a guy who was shooting up the squad room; not to mention Bayliss also fatally shot a man on-duty in self-defense later in the series.
@Secondplanetfromthesun10 ай бұрын
You cannot compare that to actively hunting a man down and directly shooting him point blsnk in the skull.

Unless you are Meldrick. One of the most powerful scenes in the show imo was the "You go when you supposed to go! and everything else is homicide!" scene with Lewis & Beau. So I can kina see your point.

I hated that the Gee died but this is a correct timeline for Tim. He was tormented, and he had to unburden himself. In my mind he didnt get 30 years, he would probably go out in 5 years on parole.

I hope someone can explain this. In earlier comments, at least two people say that Giardello dies. The Wiki page for Gee says that he dies of an aneurism and sees Adena Watson and is playing cards with Felton and Crosetti. Yet in the end of the previous part 3,. Danvers says that the shooter is facing two counts of ATTEMPTED murder for Gee and the Dr he shot. and no where after that can I find the scene showing him with Felton and Crosetti. Were there 2 versions made?
