When you start up your car make sure to wait 45 seconds to 1 minute before you drive or rev it. The most damage occurs to an engine on start up because the engine is not fully lubricated with oil for the first 45 seconds to 1 minute.

5 years? You need to do a drain/refill every oil change cycle. Honda autos do not use planetary gears as found in other makes. The system relies heavily on oil pressure so once the chemical composition changes every so slightly, this is where the failures start.

Changed the oil at the timed intervals and while had some minor issues with the car it still works as good as the day i bought it. Not sure what kind of problems you're having but if you are driving cars with previous owners that may be a dead giveaway that some previous owners treat their cars like junk. The 90s was hondas best decade for making cars. Just goes to show that they dont make em like they used to. Epa regulations and that bs means that vehicles wear out faster. This epa thing supposedly saves the environment. i beg to differ. keeping cars for 100k miles and scrapping them causes far more pollution than keeping a car going for 500k miles in the long run. I think it should be illegal to scrap 80s and 90s hondas for this reason. they just keep tickin along

But sadly after driving 10 mins the transmission is starting to slip especially when it’s 90 degrees outside here in New Jersey. The auto transmission just goes bad when you don’t maintain and if you live in very hot conditions . Hondas make decent autos , they seem to be very sensitive to fluid breaking down . 320,000 mile prelude owner here. This is only possible with deep pockets or you doing bulk of the labor yourself. Example: I had a complete ac failure. ECU was bad, (requires new immobilizer.) Compressor was shot. Leak from ac expansion valve. Receiver Dryer was bad. It would of cost the dealer if they source the parts, about 3200-4000.00 dollars. DIY 550.00 in parts, the only thing I am unable to do was reprogram the ecu with the New immobilizer. So 500.00. Still Im only paying 25-30 percent of what you would paid to fix the ac myself. Could of Done it a lot cheaper if you don’t mind having a car with immobilizer disabled (strongly do not recommend.)

My dad has a 96 Integra Gs-R with 335k mils on it, original altenator and starter just went out and hes changed his timing belts once, new spark plugs, water pump, and radiator, every time he gets in the car he goes to redline at 8,000rpm at least once. The last time it went to a Honda dealear for service was when it had like 30k miles on it, he has done all tune ups and oil changes since. These cars really do last forever if you treat them right.

RIP Million Mile Joe. It's too bad Honda shut down their Honda Mile Makers Club site... Erick Belmer has a 2012 Chevy Volt that has over 370,000 miles on his extended range electric vehicle. Worked for GM with a large distance between the plant and his house, travelling every day. www.greencarreports.com/news/1102736_durable-2012-chevrolet-volt-300000-miles-no-battery-loss www.voltstats.net/Stats/Details/1579

It’s really sad Hondas are not made like they used to be. They had such a good styling and sounds, now they looks like auctual crap.
