Very impressive. That CRV was driven on average about 83,333 miles a year, 228 miles per day EVERY day. It spent all its time on the highway. With proper care, obviously-- a very impressive feat. Leads me to believe that with the same amount of care, almost any car can could easily reach 200,000 without issue.

I know what they mean about a car being family. My parents bought a 98 astro van brand new off the floor to drive my oldest sister around who was recovering from a bad car accident. She didnt survive. My parents kept the van and eventually my 2 sisters and I would learn to drive it in. The van fell into disrepair and in my early college years i taught myself to work on cars by slowly restoring it. It inspired me to get certified in automotive work which ive been doing for 3 years now. I still drive the astro.

Secret to that longevity is all the highway miles. You don't ever hit the brakes, engine is kept at a steady low RPM cause you aren't mashing the gas at every red light. Main thing though is this car might have stupidly high miles, but relatively low number of heat cycles on the oil/coolant/transmission fluid, piston rings, cylinder bores, engine block, camshafts, rocker arms, transmission gears/bands, etc. AKA owner fires it up, its up to operating temp for 3-8 hours a day. Now if you do nothing but short trips, multiple times a day, it means the car doesn't fully heat up or the fluids go from cold to hot, back to cold to hot a few times a day, which is what really wears your vehicle out.

@Polymer Tools that's exactly why I'd buy such a car. Hence the "probably been better looked after". I use 70k miles as a comparison as that's typically where suspension components begin to fail. Comparatively, if you were to buy a car with very high mileage, said suspension components will have been replaced multiple times (and likely be in better condition).

My current ride is a 2016 Honda Accord LX with 77,000+ miles. I change my 0W20 full synthetic oil when the maintenance meter hits 50%. I'm 69-years-old and this may be the last car I ever own. My previous vehicles were: 2001 Honda Civic HX, 1995 Honda Civic CX, and a 1985 Honda CRX HF. All purchased new.

That CR-V should have the 2.4 N/A engine that was an excellent Honda engine, to me way better than the 1.5 turbo of today. I had a 2007 Accord with the 2.4 and 5 speed manual. That engine ran smooth as could be with 168,000 miles on it and averaged 29-30 MPG.

Goes to show that Honda is just one of the top manufacturers for reliability. These things will go years without a major problem. Hondas are just bulletproof tanks~ I would definitely buy that 2007 CR-V, and I'd believe it'll last me 1 million more.

With a 96 1.6 liter Civic sedan here. It has roughly 156k miles and I make short trips. The body is getting rusty every day that passes but the engine just doesn't give up. I will face a dilemma.

Honda will buy it from you to break it down and do a thorough evaluation of all the driveline components and interior materials fir their iwn data abd future product planning. If I were honda, I'd trade you for a brand new CRV! Great job with that honda! I just bought my sister one, abd I drive a 2015 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Coupe fir the last 7.5 years! Excellently engineered machines!

I just bought a really clean 2014 4x4 chevy silverado with 70,000 miles on it from a chevy dealer for 30 grand had it 9 months and the transmission went out and cost me another 7 grand to have them replace it because the warranty they sold me didn't want to cover it I'd be happy if it just lasts until its paid off

I'm about to reach 200,000 miles with my 1999 CRV. I know in his automatic transmission CRV he had to replace the transmission once or twice at least. I've known two CRV's with manual transmissions that reached over 400,000 without a engine or transmission fix. They don't make manuals in CRV's anymore though.
