It's still ok mate but I'm sure it's very slowly coming back. I think I'll have to strip it again and look at the clutch assembly itself. Apparently, it's a very well known issue that Honda are fully aware of but they refuse to admit there's a problem and they refuse to improve it for some reason. The sky is blue 80% of the time at the moment, we're in the monsoon season where it hammers it down for 20 minutes and then, all traces have gone within an hour. During the summer months (which last 9 months) we're lucky to get a cloud.

Good morning Tony. You sound a lot more upbeat today. Up here in the Issan area of Thailand it costs 200 bht to clean car inside and out. My Jazz runs a lot better since it got a new head gasket. Nice to see your bike is good for you. Good day buddy.

I'm always upbeat over here mate :) When I was in the car wash, I saw them doing the deluxe wash - They took the whole interior out and cleaned all the carpets with the seats out. The best part is, it was only 995 and, according to Google translate, it said that the car needed to be left with them for 24 hours due to the extreme amount of work needed. With regards to your email that I haven't replied to...... yes mate, it's rather bad up north. I've put the tour on hold until the beginning of November when the rainy season has pretty much ended.

Hi Tony great review and thoughts on the bike,absolutely agree it’s a fantastic bike,mines doing an average of 86 mpg and that’s a combination of city riding and dual carriageways. ATB Tony 🙏
@Vortecks
@Vortecks 3 ай бұрын
Wow, 86 mpg? I think I can achieve that but my throttle is pretty binary in city traffic, it's the only way to fly 😁 I love this bike/scooter, it's just perfect for everyday use. I might rent an X-ADV one day to do a comparison between the 2.

I got my CBT sorted this week. I decided to try go for DAS as cheap as I can. Its one of those things that's been on the to do list for ages. Like getting radio ham licence. Your videos have definitely given me a nudge. I figure its gonna make things potentially easier getting bikes abroad. Plus like i said i just want my full bike entitlement. Thanks Tony 😁 I got a arai x4 as well in the diamond black finish cos it was well cheap on offer.

I'll tell you a secret story that I never said in any videos........ When I was in the UK, I loved big bikes. In 1988, I took my bike license and passed, then I bought a brand new ZX10 which (at the time) was the fastest production bike in the world. I never sent in my pass certificate and it only lasts for 2 years so I never did get my license updated. I stopped riding after 2 years and sold the bike because........ women. Fast forward to 2004 when I had a midlife crisis, I retook my bike license and then I bought a 2001 ZX7-R. I said to myself and my friends that I wasn't going to send the pass certificate off for at least 12 month because I knew what I was like. I said that, if I don't come off it in 12 months, I'll send off for my license to be updated. Fast forward to August 2004, I came off it at 135mph which was hideously bad. Anyway, I then came to Thailand with only a 50cc scooter license which is enough to get a full license over here. I've never done anything as positive as this and I've never looked back :)

@@Vortecks I have a similar story. In to bikes since i was a nipper on a monkey bike at 7. got a bike at 16/17 for the road on the cusp ;) it was also when the change from 250 to 125s was happening. Did get my licence then got a car. Thought i had full A. but it turns out didnt get passed over when paper licences went. So im doing it all again now. lol.

When I have my coffee at home, I use a 750 ml thermal insulated mug, I put 2 x sachets of Nescafe '3 in 1' powder in, then I put 3 spoons of ridiculously strong coffee which is a Thai brand and then, I top it up with cows milk. It's the best coffee I've ever had and it certainly wakes me up in the morning!

Thank you for the nice video. I want to buy an ADV 350 in early 2025 (new display and a few other functions) and I will 100% raise the handlebars. I'm 192cm tall and I need it. Was this 38mm up and 18mm back version plug and play? Have you had to replace the cables, wires or the brake hose with a longer one? thanks. Kind regards Tomasz from Poland
@Vortecks
@Vortecks 18 күн бұрын
The ADV is a wonderful machine and the 1,000km non stop journey from the very north of Thailand to where I live is testimony to that. The only problem I've had is with the clutch and I've got to strip it down and clean it again - I'm now thinking that it's something to do with the friction pads that Honda use which are low quality. They use a horrible resin to bond them to the centrifugal arms and it melts which causes glazing. I've got a new clutch assembly and I'll be fitting it this weekend. When I fitted the riser blocks, I did have to loosen the clamps and pull the pipes and cables about 20mm upwards. I actually removed the bottom steering clamps that hold the brake pipes because I noticed that they don't actually rub when they're free (both forward facing and full sideways). It may be different on yours but I couldn't see a reason to use clamps when they're not needed.

That's a sweet ride you got there - very nicely done 👍 I'm a huge fan of the Gold Wing but that's an absolute monster compared to the scooters. Those Gordon trikes from Japan would be my ultimate touring bike 😎 Ride safe and enjoy!!
@Vortecks
@Vortecks 3 ай бұрын
I've seen quite a few tasty trikes riding around but I look at them and realise 2 things - you're a lot lower for some reason and you have to sit in traffic because there's no way you can filter through. I was looking at the Yamaha TMAX Tech MAX which is a monster with a monster price tag of 569,000 baht (£13k) whereas I paid 199,000 ($4.5k) for this one, there's no comparison really for what you get at a much lower price.

Tony how about a comparison with:- Suzuki Burgman 400 & 650 Yamaha T Max BMW C400 GT etc
@Vortecks
@Vortecks 3 ай бұрын
Yes, I'd love to mate but I don't have the money to buy all of them 😂 Seriously, I don't know how I could - renting the BMW is impossible over here and so is the Burgman. The only ones I can rent are the T MAX and Forza really. I'd love to test ride the TMAX Tech MAX which is a monster in itself but the price-tag on one of those is massive because they're not made over here so the import duty is stupid. I'd love a Burgman 650 though, it's like riding my grandad's old armchair and I'm sure they ride themselves, I'd only have to be there for legal reasons 🤣🤣🤣 I'll look into it some more though, there must be some places somewhere but it's very hard to find anywhere, people don't tend to advertise much, it's mostly done through word of mouth.

The warped clutch bell housing is fabricated from steel and welded....It has stress in it and heat from the friction makes it move out of round. It should be made from cast iron so its stable and stays round, rather like a brake drum...😏😳🇬🇧

Would it make it heavier? In the end, mass manufacturing is all about making it cheaper and us buy replacement part when it goes tits up...
@Vortecks

Even the Malossi clutch system is made the same way and they have a perfect reputation for smoothness and reliability (you also get the hefty price tag). I've been trying to find an affordable alternative because it's starting to happen again, looks like I'll have to buy a complete clutch if this keeps going on and Honda refuse to help :(
@EnglishTurbines
@EnglishTurbines 3 ай бұрын
@@Vortecks Well, I'd just clock it true and skim out the bell housing. The heat from clutch slip has in effect destressed it, so it might work. Don't buy a new one, or throw away the old one either.....🤔😏😏🇬🇧

As I was thinking about it and about to sign the paperwork, the sales woman then said that they have this one in stock to ride away today. 30 minutes later, I was away and I'm so glad I had this one instead of the boring black, everyone loves the colours.

@Vortecks
@Vortecks 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I never understood why they make the 150/160cc machines when the 125 is more commonly used in Europe because of restrictions. I love the Forza and I nearly bought one, if they'd change the clocks to digital (or at least had an additional digital clock) and they'd move the mirrors to the handlebars then I'd have bought one. I know there are aftermarket fittings but it didn't make sense to have the mirrors on the fairing, it makes it much harder to see behind with my 6th sense :(

Yes, it is very heavy for what it is but I've checked under the fairing and it's ridiculously solid underneath. The power could be more and it is possible to increase it but Honda deliberately reduced the power output to increase longevity of the engine. My old ZX-7 weighed in at 220kg I think but I loved that machine until it spat me off at 135mph. Luckily, the ADV doesn't go too fast or I'd be dead by now!

One of the things that put me off the Forza when I test rode one was the analogue clocks and sadly, the Burgman is the same. If they'd given the option of a digital dashboard, I think the choice between the Forza 350 and the Burgman 400 would have been really tough but I think the Burgman would have won even though it's an extra £900.
