You can still replace the broken shell for your key and what I did was take out the little magnet chip and glue it to the side of the new shell so the car would start.

Hi does the valet key have a chip inside because we had bought a car off Facebook marketplace but the guy had a valet key only and was wondering if I can use the same blade to put it in a fob and then program it with the ignition to use the remote buttons

Do Valet keys have to be programmed? I asked Honda for prices on FOB keys and Valet keys. The prices were different for each key, but both had to be programmed for $80 they said.

You have to remove the chip from the old shell and glue it onto the new one, problem solved. (That’s what I ended up doing)

You will need to have the chip, no way around it. Any chance you can come up with an extra key? Maybe the valet key?
