I subscribe and watched several videos already. Very nice boost , turbo LS civic content. Love it. Seems more home based and garage built but with quality parts showing we enthusiasts can build a engine just as well at our own home than a machine shop or Engine shop can do it. Its all about trial and error learning process and having patience.

if you didnt set the valve lash to 0 first that could be why you have an off degree measurement

I think i got it but what was your final lobe separation angle? Was it the 103.5 plus the 2.5 difference in the cams?

My degree kit came with “checking springs” did you have to use these??
@Dense147
@Dense147 3 жыл бұрын
You take out your high pressure springs and use those so you arent fighting the springs as the cam goes around

Not sure why youtube is suggesting these videos... This isn't how it's done. Best way to learn is to have somebody who knows what they're doing (professionally trained, certified, and gets paid to do it every day) adjust everything out of whack and then you fix it and they check. Do that a few times and you'll get it down. With the engine on a stand and all the tools handy and laid out it shouldn't take you more than a quarter hour. Always go off cyl 1. If the tool won't fit it's either the wrong tool or operator error.

No one said we where professionals and getting paid to do it.. this was a learning process for us also.. don't like it don't watch it as simple as that.. not everyone has money for everything to get done professionally..

@@civicpride1986 No one said you said you were professionals. I didn't watch it after the first minute or so. You shouldn't be so sensitive if you're going to put videos online. All I did was point out you were in the process of learning yourself. You admit to the same thing. If you don't like reading that, don't read it. Right? I wouldn't suggest people take things to shops. Way too expensive, and most shops employ a lot of entry level techs that don't know more than someone at your level. People don't have a choice if they bite off more than they can chew after watching a half informed video or reading a forum post about a friend of a friends car though. Probably 10% of my jobs are people bringing in basket cases and trying to figure out how they're going to pay for the massive bill. Every single time they have a video or post that fucked them. You want to tear engines apart? Hell yeah, go for it. I fully support that. You can't teach what you don't know though, and videos like these do absolutely no good (hmmm, maybe read the confused comments). They can cause a lot of harm though. Take responsibility like a man. You made the shit video, not me. Own up to it instead of making excuses like a kid. Or don't, no skin off my back.

I have never understood why this is done this way. I set my cam gears to 0 degrees, set the cam platform, put number one on TDC and put my timing belt on. Send the entire package to the dyno and done. I have never had an issue. I'm just saying.
@civicpride1986

Is not about having issues, this is mainly done to be able to make the most horsepower for the cams possible, not much but doing this can gain an extra 5-10whp depending on the set up..

Yeah using the lift at 0.050" is a super confusing way of doing it. Next time after finding tdc just go to the centerlines of the cams on the degree wheel and use your cam gears to find the peak lift. Once that's found lock down the cam gears and your done!

I only watched the first few minutes & that was enough ..... Why don't KZbinrs actually learn how to do a technical process correctly first before doing a video on it .... YOU CANNOT FIND TRUE TDC WITH A DIAL GAUGE >>> IT'S IMPOSSIBLE

because when the piston changes direction the wristpin/bearing would have some slack in it and throw the reading off.... BUT NOT BY MUCH, so stop beating him up on it :-)
