I agree totally with you. I had an MT07 for a year. Now I have one of these. And comparing the CB650R to that, this is the winner. Must say though, that the sidestand is too small, going through softer ground. And another thing that could be better is the light! Yes, it's more than bright, but the "lightspread" is simply not good enough. Well on straights and smaller bends, t's fine. But in the twisties it's not wide enough. I've been riding motorcycles since 1983 and this is a really good bike for experienced bikers. And I bought one, in A2, for my son. A really good beginners bike too! :-)

Yes I agree with all your points there John, it is a good all rounder for all types of riders. I personnally found the light spread OK on my 300R which has the same LED light on the front but I did come from a grom before the 300 and the groms lights were no better than lighting a candle. Thanks for watching the video-it's great to have you here : ) E.R

The sound of this bike brings back memories of my 1984 Nighthawk S (700cc). It sounds very much like it! The NC 750X is at the top of my list but when you hear and see something like this it shows you that buying any motorcycle is at least partially an emotional decision. I have on my list of videos to make about this after my friend who has a 4 pot. Im not sure if your a steady rider but I have found that anything above 2 cylinder needs a good beasting and It could do with doing a ten mile run or so in a lowish gear but very high revs . This then seems to get rid or at least half the vides in a bike. Give it a go : )

Very good resolution on the camera and a nice review. The CB650R in the video has a belly pan and rear seat cowl fitted which in my opinion finishes the bike beautifully. However they are optional extras which bumps the price up to 8625 euros here in SWFrance. Quite a bit more than the 2021 MT07 7300 euros (standard trim) and I am not sure Honda's build quality is as good as it use to be. Thank you for uploading!

I’m looking to finally jump in on bike riding, what made you choose the Grom over your CB300R? Being I live in California, top speed concerns me with the Grom based on regular around town speed and drivers always pushing above posted speed limits 15+ MPH. I looked at the 650R but weight currently concerns me with the fact I’m on Chemo from cancer treatment. The CB300R looks to be the balance in performance, price and weight given my condition currently. Haven’t seen the 300R yet in person, so can’t gauge the size and weight difference from the Grom which is appealing minus top speed/performance. Any thoughts and advice is welcome. I’m not a fan of the ninja design which gets touted as the golden standard for entry bikes. I want something more upright and comfy, and know Honda’s reputation has always been top notch. The 2020 CB300R ironically has a blue tank, which is the color for colon cancer awareness. So that’s also a bonus going with the newest model of the CB300R for me.
@exeterrider5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear your going through the mill. I had the grom then the 300r and now the nc750x. The 300r is a light happy medium that you will enjoy. Go for it 👍😊

TBH, I would go this over a 300. 300's have limitations. When you get into riding, all you want is more more more more. It's very addicting. This size engine is very beginner friendly, but more than enough to do anything you want to do with it. You won't regret it. At no point will you look back and think "a 300 would have been a better choice". I love my FZ07 that is comparable to this bike. Don't let the weight numbers fool you. It will just feel like a heavy mountain bike.

Yes it is short isn't it. Hooligan bike this is really. I must admit I didn't find the brakes spongy at all but I guess we all feel different things. It's seat design I feel Honda are not great on, they seem to only be comfiest if you get a tuck in.

@@exeterrider I tested it, the engine and handling is identical to 650f. The brakes are a bit better, but only a bit. The overall design is pretty slick and it is more refined than 650f. The only problem is the short wheel base and low seat which is oddly away from the handlebars. I noticed that if you ride within 5k rpm, you get good mpg, but at motorway speed, it sucks petrol so quickly. Overall I really like the look of this bike, but it's a bit too small, and CB1000R is too expensive for what it offers. Looks like Honda doesn't want me to purchase a Honda.
