Top speed is fine. It's an unstressed motor, great for touring and two up. It will cruise 120-130 km/h all day and that's what you want.

@@paxas03 I wouldn’t say better performance. They are pretty on par with eachother. The 500r is considered a “full-sized” ‘sportier’ bike and it’s weight is greater as well as it’s frontal surface area. Pair that with a 180° twin engine and slight restrictions, it will be on par with a 400 of course. I think that getting an ECU wipe with an exhaust system would do this bike wonders. (Maybe some better foot pegs, too.)

One of my fav bike, I don't care about the top speed. I care about the stabillity, comfort riding position, and the acceleration of course. What is the point of having a fast bike? Racing? In Australia the speed limit is only 110kmph (once you're outside the city and into rural areas), and I've heard there areas where it's 120. This is enough to get your license revoke, bike siezed, a very hefty fine and possibly a year in jail. I think it would do me fine on the 100kmph speed limit in the Melbourne area. Great clip mate and thanks for posting. This answered some serious questions for me.

I love my CBR500R, as a commuter bike non other is needed. The ergonomics are to a point comfortable. The suspension could be more firm, the brake could have more bite and the horsepower could be a bit greater say 60 - 65, but that's about it. Looks are superb. 😎👍

Comparing 300cc and 500cc on speed is not enough...500cc is more stable and the lower rpm at same speed will let live the bike longer💡...It's one of the best city bike.Honda CB500F is legendary. 300 is for children... *joke* I love them too.

It's not quite like that, man... I agree that torque equals acceleration, but it takes power to get a high speed. No wonder choppers are quick off the line, but have low top speed.

idk if this is still relevant but my 2020 cbr gets up to 230km/h but that is with few mods on it. a k&n airfilter , aftermarket exhaust , a power commander v , quickeshifter , changed the front rear sprocket , changed the tires , windshield , steel brakelines , got set of wings on it , im planing to put a nos kit on it still not sure if i should or not xD

The thing I know is the CBR500R does 170kmh at 8000rpm whilst a Ninja 300 will eventually do 170kmh but at 12000rpm, a huge difference in riding comfort !!! No way you can cruise at over 10000rpm with anything, that's too painful....

The funny thing is, is that because the bike is heavier you will have to pay more taxes in most countries even if it delivers about the same performance as the ninja 300 or the r3. Less taxes, less insurance, less fuel consumption. Why go for the cbr500?

kledder2 Because CBR500R has much better acceleration, CBR500R reaches 100 km/h much faster then these 2. I ride bigger motorcycles, but my girfriend just bought a CBR500R and I can say that this motorcycle is much better than R3 and Ninja 300, not only because the acceleration, but because the torque. The Honda 500 is a "torquey" engine in lower rpm, that makes the motorcycle a lot more confy, specially in urban use. Besides that CBR500R is a much bigger motorcycle that R3 and Ninja 300, in fact it seems a 1000 cc motorcycle, which makes it more visible and "respectable" in urban traffic.

This bike is not meant for speed. The torque is great for quick acceleration but not speed. The fuel consumption is not bad too (below 100kmph, it is about same as Ninja250).

Thanz for Vid. For all uncommen sensed viewers out there. I have done 170km DISTANCE 7 on a Megelli 250R with my wife on pillion, it was SH*T. This is a sub-sports tourer, ive ridden one and the motor is smooth as silk for a twin 500. Be my guest to ride your 390's / 250's and 300's all day long over 10k rpm... Idiots... The Cbr500 is great for travelling far distance, light on fuel and its got a punch of torque, what it is designed for... Overtaking is no poblem, 0-top speed is quick dont judge that, robot to robot im sure you will give a Golf 7 gti a Go or even win. People that say its dissapointing has not ridden bigger than 300 nor twin or 4 cylinder. If you want to die get the zx12. Then you can say bye bye on 340kmph cuz you wont even be able to handle it. Inexperienced riders would say this is a shit bike. Peace out thanx for clip. I enjoyed this bike and I HAVE RIDDEN MONSTER BIKES. I appreciate the 500r. Comfortable, punchy power for overtaking and light on fuel. And the sound is amazing with aftermarket exhaust. That twin cylinder high pitch growl noise is very exciting.

Azért itt van egy jókora technikai ugrás az 500-as és a 600-as között. Az előbbi 2 míg az utóbbi 4 hengeres, ahogy Laci is írta. Továbbá szerintem az 500as agyon van korlátozva teljesítményben. I can get my cbr500 to 190km/h (118mph) on strait road if not to much wind it is possible depends more on your position on the bike and weather conditions, I have see people going 200kph downhill, and yes kawasaki ninja 400 does better and consumes much more aswell as it works with much more high revvs and was not tweaked for cruising and efficiency, it was built to be used as racing bike, it comes to you to choose witch one is better choice for YOU, there is no need to start arguing about witch one is better because it depends...

its close. ive ridden both bikes. The CBR has a bit more horsepower and can jump ahead of the r3 easily during the takeoff. Top speed is close. I have gotten my CBR higher than 185... but I have a modified exhaust system

Hey , Im not an expert or anything but fro.m what I can tell theres a pretty big gap between 500 and 600rr. The 600 is way quiker in the low gears so if you want to pull up fast from a traffic light I would totally go with the 600 and it is faster overall of course

I just upgraded from a 125 r to a 500r. U won't need the extra speed of a super sport 600rr unless u want to speed constantly and get tickets. The 500 is still surprising me with how much she can do and it is very fuel efficient. I'm getting around 320km per tank. That is riding it with the rpm in between 3000-5500.

Though this bike disappoints at top speed, main thing I would like to consider is it's superb stability and handling, I have not ridden it, but it's a safe bet to say this as bike weighs in at 181kg!! Hey, Richtig gute Qualität! In ein paar Monaten darf ich 48ps fahren und brauche ein neues Motorrad... Die Cbr 500r wiegt ja relativ viel für ein 48ps Motorrad. Ich würde gerne wissen ob sie sich auch so schwer beim fahren anfühlt ( ist sie sehr viel schwerer als eine 125er wie z.B. meine 140kg R125?). With a slight downward slope, it can actually achieve over 190kmph. I would know :^) Also, yea, put a cpu in there. Apparently, they maybe factory, but it's still restricted. My mate is a bike mechanic, he was telling me how to make it go upto 250 without changing much on the bike at all, no aftermarket parts, anyway. Still stock :P

I've been on both, and yea, the Ninja is fucking tiny compared to the cbr500r. I felt so cramped on it. In saying that, no, the 300 will go upto 175 or something like that, where as the cbr500r is 185. You must also remember the CBR500R is actually a supersport, used in the 300cc class of racing. The specs allow a 500 to be in a 300 race. It's all about cruising, and learning, how to use a sport bike. It's not designed to go all out, but more or less, training wheels for the 600. I have one of these, and I love it, it's acceleration, when done properly, is absolutely insane upto 130-140kmph.

i like this bike.. I Think if you maintain with 175kmh speed for 150km, the engine wouldn't stress or breakdown compare to 250cc-300cc bike..

En vettem tavaly egy cbf125 ot 3000 km utan most adtam el. Az hozza tartozik, hogy ennek fele autopalya. Ha szandekozol autpalyazni.... itt nem a 250km/h ra gindolok... hanem a 140 korulire plusz tarazalek 20-30 km/h,akkor 500 ala ne menj. Robogo utan az elso motor az a 600 as hornet volt. Az kezeabarany volt. ugy velem egy 500 as sorkettes par evig eleg lesz....

Huh. Good looking bike mate but this thing has a surprisingly huge power gap to a Ninja 650 (47 vs 71 hp). In fact, it feels like you can line it up with the Yamaha R3 and they'll go head to head....

its made for the european a2 license. 48hp are the limit. thats why it only has 48hp

How heavy are you? I can reach 170-175km with my ninja 250r(stock) and it's 250cc :P I'm 1.80m 80kg(when I reach those speed I need to be hidden within the wind shield(so I put my helmet as down as it gets) if go freely and duck just a bit I can reach 160-165km/h at best)
